Accomplishment: Dufresne took first place in the shot put at the Arcadia Invitational in Southern California last weekend. She reached a distance of 43 feet, 11 inches, just shy of this year's state high of 44-2 3/4, which was set by . . . Julie Dufresne at the K-Bell Classic in March. She also won the discus open division in Arcadia with a throw of 137-5. Dufresne holds the Central Coast Section's top marks in her events, beating her nearest competitors by five feet (shot put) and 11 feet (discus). ``Julie is already a fine athlete,'' said her personal coach, Al Fuerbach, a three-time Olympian and former shot-put world-record holder. ``She's so calm and collected out there, you can tell her biggest throws are still ahead of her.''
