By-Laws Update

The Board of Managers accepted the By-Laws dated 12/03 as the current set. All by-law changes recommended by the coaches at last year's post-season meeting were accepted. A new set of By-Laws was issued and dated 6/04. The major change in the By-Laws is only varsity athletes will be allowed to qualify on to the Qualification Meet. Other changes had to do with the number of qualifiers to CCS and Article VII, the Order of Events. The new By-Laws are posted on the website.

CCS Meeting

SCVAL currently has 6 entries for both boys and girls to the CCS meet. The CCS has to update the entries to CCS with the new CBEDS. If there is a change, coaches will be notified.

Workers should arrive ready to work 30 minutes before the start of the event. Workers should provide their own equipment to perform their job. A $100 fine or loss of entry for next year's meet could be levy if a league does not provide personnel for their events on time.

Five coaches per school are allowed free entry into the CCS meets. For an additional 6 entries, the head coach should fill out the Pass Gate List (form available on CCS website) and have it signed by their principal. Deliver the form to the meet site.

The field event order for this year's meet will be long jump first for both girls and boys, with the triple jump second. The start of the shot and discus may be staggered to allow coaches to see both events. The tournament guide will have the final order and start time, usually available 3 weeks prior to the competition.

The uniform rule has been updated. Body suits are now allowed. Athletes cannot modify their uniforms once the competition has begun. They may be subject to disqualification. Also, make sure your athletes keep their uniforms on until the competition is over and the officials have dismissed them. Be sure to review the uniform rule. CCS has requested that coaches follow the rules at all meets, so that the athletes are use to them by the CCS meet.
