National Boys - Reed Connor - The Woodlands TX senior is this year's honoree - Full Press Release - more pix, podcast coming

(from press release) "The 6-foot-1 senior won the Nike Cross Nationals Final this past season, breaking the tape in a course-record time of 15:13.6 and leading the Highlanders to a fourth-place finish as a team.  Connor also clocked the second-fastest time in the history of the Texas state meet at Old Settler’s Park to win the 2008 Class 5A state title, and broke course records with his wins at the Andy Wells Invitational and the Aldine Invitational.  Connor also won the Chile Pepper Festival in Arkansas, becoming the third prep runner to ever run sub-15:00 at the meet.  At the Nike Cross Nationals South Regional, Connor set another course record with a time of 14:56.8 while qualifying for the national final."

National Girls - Jordan Hasay - Mission Prep CA senior takes the honor - Full Press Release - VIDEO: - Awards Ceremony | Interview

(from press release) "A two-time Gatorade California Girls Cross Country Runner of the Year, Hasay was unbeaten this past season and raced to a national title at the Foot Locker Cross Country Championships.  The senior, who also won the Foot Locker championship as a freshman, captured the 2008 Division 5 state title with the fastest time in any class, 17:18, and also broke the tape at the Mt. Sac Invitational in October.  The 5-foot-4 Hasay became the first runner ever to win four Foot Locker Cross Country regional championships when she topped the field at the 2008 West Regional in December ... Hasay finished 10th in the 1,500-meter finals at the 2008 U.S. Olympic Trials last July, setting a new high school record in her semifinal where she was 5th with a time of 4:14.50."
