 IT'S BEEN A FANTABULOUS MEET
FOR THE NORTHEAST

More to come in 2006!

Well it's a marvelous night for a moondance
With the stars up above in your eyes
A fantabulous night to make romance
'Neath the cover of October skies
And all the leaves on the trees are falling
To the sound of the breezes that blow
And I'm trying to please to the calling
Of your heart-strings that play soft and low
You know the night's magic
Seems to whisper and hush
And all the soft moonlight
Seems to shine in your blush...

Can I just have one a' more moondance with you, my love?
Can I just make some more romance with a' you, my love?

Well I wanna make love to you tonight
I can't wait till the morning has come
And I know now the time is just right
And straight into my arms you will run
And when you come my heart will be waiting
To make sure that you're never alone
There and then all my dreams will come true dear
There and then I will make you my own
And every time I touch you, you just tremble inside
And I know how much you want me that, you can't hide...

Can I just have one a' more moondance with you, my love?
Can I just make some more romance with a' you, my love?

Well it's a marvelous night for a moondance
With the stars up above in your eyes
A fantabulous night to make romance
'Neath the cover of October skies
And all the leaves on the trees are falling
To the sound of the breezes that blow
And I'm trying to please to the calling
Of your heart-strings that play soft and low
You know the night's magic
Seems to whisper and hush
And all the soft moonlight
Seems to shine in your blush...

One more moondance with you
In the moonlight
On a magic night
la, la, la, la, there's a moonlight
On a magic night
Can't I just have one more dance
With you my love?

THE BOYS OF THE NORTHEAST

They are all here -- the forty best xc teams in the US of A! A meeting of the 8 "families" in Portland, Oregon, a summit, a meeting of the the absolute most hard core athletes and coaches (chaperones???) in the Nation. And here is the low down my dear friends: the Northeast will once again be in the thick of the team battle as they have six squads representing THE EVIL EMPIRE SQUARED. The six are:

On the boys side there are three qualifiers paced by US#4 Coatesville, PA a team that has been competing a high level for the last two years and has been rewarded by a NE#1 ranking as well as a lofty National ranking. The team is said to be one of the ALL TIME BEST ever in PA XC history. This is high praise as the Keystone state has produced a multitude of quality teams over the years. This powerful team had a 42 second spread at state and have brought in their scorers fast all year long. The team is led by one of the pre-race individual favorites in Kyle Dawson. Look for Kyle and his mates to challenge for the team title.

Coming into the meet the #1 team in NYS and NE #2 is ranked US#4 by the Harrier Magazine “The Home of the NATIONAL Rankings”. This very well balanced team coached by Matt Jones is paced by Footlocker Finalist and 4:11 miler Stephen “Doc” Murdock. In winning the “nation’s toughest state meet” this NY based team race won by 53 points over a very fine Collegiate, NYC team. As the season has progessed Shen has gotten better week by week and is ready to roll. Watch for the Plainsmen to run quite a race in the mud!

Watch out in 2007!!! Wait it's 2006 isn't it? The NE#3 is US#15 and looking "to prove" that they are "good". Well the Hatters out of Connecticut will gain fantastic experience this year as they will be returning 6 of their top 7 for next year. Team leader Matt Terry reports that his teammates and himself set this National Title race as a goal way back in July as they began their march to NTN 2006. Winning three major championships at the end of the season has put these lads on the line on Saturday, December 2. Truly a dream come true for these young men. Look for a top 15 finish -- I am thinking lucky #13 (or better!).

THE LADIES OF THE NORTHEAST

FAYETTEVILLE MANLIUS, NY

Manlius XC Club

FM = Fayetteville Manlius, NY... they are baaaaaack! But this time it's the girls under the tutelage of Mr. Bill Aris -- certainly one of the best xc minds in the country -- the Hornets peaked "perfectly" in the two big NYS Championship meets. What a job by these young ladies and their coach. They will be very dangerous in this 140 athlete field because they pack them in tight. The US#8 will make a run at for a spot on the podium.

What a squad, what a squad!!! Jim Schlentz and his harriers are led by a dynamic duo of Ashley Higginson & Brianna Jackucewicz two Footlocker finalists (Brianna last year). At the NJ Meet of Champions they recorded the second fastest team average EVER in the Garden State. They will battle to the bitter end and not because they are from the "Soprano State". They will be in the hunt!

THE DEFENDING NATIONAL CHAMPIONS

If you haven't been paying attention... this NY squad located outside of Rochester have not been healthy all year. WOW! Coach Mike Szczepanik has all his young "Running Cadets" healthy and is excited at the prospects that the 2006 NTN brings. His girls are happy, focused and fit and he states that they should be "in the thick of it!". I'll say!!!

METEOROLOGICAL  REPORT

The Portland Press said that November 2006 was the wettest on record. They broke the 64 year old record from 1942 of 11.50 inches of rain in the month of November by .42 with a total amount of 11.92 inches of rain recorded this past month.

Surprisingly this may be the DRIEST NTN CHAMPIONSHIP ever as the forecast calls for dry conditions on Saturday. Bring your boots anyway and come out and watch "THE GREASTEST XC SHOW ON EARTH!!!".

God bless & God speed...

It will truly be fantabulous!
