The annual DyeStat Elite Top 25 series (formerly Foot Locker Favorites and renamed given additional options available now) are national and regional rankings of cross-country runners based on distance-running accomplishments to date, with an emphasis on XC and 3200/2M track results, rather than a projection of how the Foot Locker Finals or NXN Finals will turn out (predictions run later in the season).

With Super Saturday finally here – the weekend featuring six Foot Locker and NXN qualifying meets – the ability to assess who’s really facing who in the post-season is almost complete. The top seven on this week's list are all running Foot Locker only, but overall, it's 12 for Foot Locker, 9 for NXN, 3 for both and 1 undecided.
Fresh for Foot Locker – With the top seven on this week’s list all running Foot Locker only, the battles for spots in the first three regionals in that series are looming pretty large. FL Midwest is the best, with four of the top 11: US#1 Megan Goethals MI, #7 Kelsey Lakowske CO, #9 Emily Sisson MO, and #11 Katie Flood IA – with Goethals, Sisson, and Flood already having five Foot Locker berths between them.
Foot Locker South will feature 2008 NXN champ Chelsey Sveinsson (also 4th at 2008 FL Finals), who bypassed NXN South last weekend with an injury. She is expected to compete Saturday at McAlpine, but don’t look for her to kill herself out there. That could make for a fascinating battle at the top as the next three ranked entires – #5 Kathryn Fluehr FL, #6 Wesley Frazier NC, and #14 Megan Ferowich TN – are all neophytes at this level.
US#3 Aisling Cuffe is the strong favorite at Foot Locker Northeast, with #12 Chelsey Ley NJ also expected to easily make her 3rd FL Finals.
Deserved respect – When someone starts taking down Ashley Brasovan state meet course records, it’s time to really take notice. Kathryn Fluehr (Community School of Naples jr.) has been moving up the lists during her unbeaten season in Florida, but her 16:59 last weekend really commands attention. Brasovan in sweeping 4A four years had three clockings between 17:00 and 17:10, but never broke the barrier. Fluehr, now US#5, and her twin sister Erika had not performed at the national class level before this fall, but now have to be serious favorites to make it to San Diego.
Dowling doublers – The list of girls apparently trying for a FL/NXN double is short and sweet. For the second time in three years, Dowling Catholic IA seniors Katie Flood and Ashlie Decker are going for it. Flood was 2nd NXN and 8th Foot Locker in 2007, then had to pass last year due to injury while Decker completed the feat in 8th and 18th. NXN Midwest champ Hannah Neczypor OH is entered for Kenosha, however, but that’s it.
