Darrell Weatherwax (Central, Grand Forks, Mt.), Boomer McLaughlin (Sheridan, Wy.) and Jason DeWitt (Ralston Valley, Co.) all cleared 6-5 and finished in that order based on number of misses. There was a four-way tie for fourth at 6-3 when none of the jumpers had any missed at the lower heights.

Rachel Machin (Calgary Warriors/Canada) was the only jumper to clear 5-5. Annie Kunz (Golden, Co.) and Nicky Charlesworth (Calgary Warriors/Canada) both cleared 5-3 with no misses in the competition to tie for second. Urina Harrell (Gardena Core/Serra Gardena, Ca.), Cate Brus (Cody, Wy.) and Brittany Rehm (East, Cheyenne, Wy.) tied for fourth at 5-3.

Boys
Twenty-five jumpers cleared 5-11 to advance to the final. Alan and Jason Turnblom (WMCA Team Idaho/Mountain View, Meridian, Id.), Scott Matheson (Pleasant Grove, Ut.), Kobi Rex (Lewis-Palmer, Monument, Co.) and Justin Lucas (Indian/ Tioga, Groveland, Ca.), all entered with bests of 6-6 and all advanced. There were 14 jumpers who entered at 6-3 or better and all advanced.
Girls
Twenty-seven jumpers cleared 4-11 to advance to the final. Samantha Balentine (Lodi, Ca.), the only one in the field to have bettered 5-8 in 2008, was just one of seven athletes who entered with a best of 5-5 or higher, that advanced. They included, Cate Brus (Cody, Wy.), Melanie Vetrees (Flying AJ’s, Federal Way, Wa.), Tasha Huset (unat), Kelsey Richard (Leduc/Canada), Rachel Michin (unat) and Kaycee Brunel (YMCA Team Idaho/Nampa Christian, Nampa, Id.).
