The pentathlon – 5 events that test an athlete’s speed, strength, explosion, agility and endurance. With the first event starting at 10am and the last stepping to the line at 6pm, it also becomes a test of conserving your energy. At the NSIC in New York, nobody managed his energy better than Curtis Beach. When the day was finally over, Beach had 4127 points, to not only win the championship, but also move to #2 on the all time list, trailing the 4303 of Donovan Kilmartin.
DyeStat Metro’s John Nepolitan followed the Albuquerque, New Mexico athlete around the New Balance Track and Field Center this past weekend as he went from event to event, to find out what it's like to spend a day with Curtis Beach.
