  • 200-footer Tyler Hitchler of Fremont backed up his US#1 mark from last week with a 190-1 DT and Kearney's Noah Keller heaved the shot put 59-03 at the Columbus boys invite
  • Paul Hamilton of Sydney cleared 6-9 in the HJ at the Ed Moore Memorial Invite 
  • Cozad's Jared Crick tossed the shot 58-10 and teammate Luke Pinkelman sailed the disc 177-07, also at Ed Moore 
  • More big throws at the Knights of Columbus Invite, as Jade Hodson from Adams Central hit 42-10 SP and Megan Theesen of Kearney Catholic 130-06 DT.


Meet Summaries

Buffalo Bill Invitational @ North Platte, 3/31/07 (boys only)

Scottsbluff scored 144 points to win the title, with Gering second with 93. Daron Pattinson (Scottsbluff) won the sprints with fast 10.91/ 21.80 clockings. Maverick Churchill (Scottsbluff) won the SP at 52-3. Nate Greene (Gering) won the HJ (6-2), TJ (43-6) and LJ (22-9).


Columbus Boys Invitational @ Columbus 3/31/07

Kearney (163) outscored Fremont (126) to win the title. Along with the big throw marks by Hitchler and Keller, BJ Lawrence (Omaha Northwest) had a good sprint double, winning in 10.65/ 22.35. Matt Donahue (Fremont) zipped a quick 49.4 to win the 400. Matt Conahan (Millard North, Omaha) won the 800 in 2:02.71, while Jon Ronhove (Fremont 4:35.57) and Nick Caprario (Kearney 9:36.16) took the 1600 and 3200. Tyree Aaron (Omaha Northwest 15.1/ 41.4) took both hurdle races. Caleb Brandt (Kearney) won the PV at 14-6, and Jason Schlautman (Columbus) won the horizontal jumps at 22-2 and 45-1.25.


Ed Moore Memorial Invitational @ Ogallala 3/31/07

Ogallala won the boys team title (133) over Gothenburg (86). Along with the good throw and high jump marks, Tim Burge (Perkins County) won the sprints in 11.2/ 22.8.

Chase County scored 107 to win the girl's crown over Gothenburg (86). Cara Kunnermann led Chase County, winning the 1600 (5:42.6) and 3200 (12:06.2). Celeste Pankonin (Chase County) won the HJ with a strong 5-5.5


Elwood Invitational @ Elwood NE 3/30/07

Loomis (129) edged Elwood (123) to win the boy's title, and also won the girl's team title with 100 points to Bertrand's 87. Lance Thorell led Loomis, winning the hurdles in 15.00 and 40.20. Teammate Charlie Schaffer won the HJ at 6-2. Kailey Hunhoff led the Loomis ladies, winning the 100 (13.10) and 200 (26.90).


Knights of Columbus Invitational @ Grand Island Central Catholic High School 3/30/07

Adams Central won the boy's title with 110 points with Wood River second (98). Central Catholic (100) ladies gave the home crowd a thrill, winning the girl's title over Catholic (Kearney, 88). Besides the fine girls throws marks mentioned above, Jake Wissing (Wood River) had a fine sprint double, winning in 10.83/ 22.41. Tim Rennau (Wood River) won the HJ at 6-2. Eric Hamik (Catholic, Kearney) won the girls 400 in a quick 59.30. Morgan Fischer (Wood River) took a hurdles double in 15.64/ 47.88.


Platteview Invitational @ Platteview HS 3/30/07

Boys Town dominated the boy's meet with 206 points, more than double runner-up Elkhorn MM's 98. Mercy (Omaha) won the girl's title with 141 points over Platteview's 102. J. Abbott (Louisville, no first name listed) won the boys high jump at 6-2. Casey Buskirk (Platteville) won the girls SP at 37-8.5


Yutan Relays @ Yutan HS 3/30/07 (boys only)

Yutan scored 97 to win the team title from East Butler (85). Belayne Bohac (East Butler) lept 6-2 to win the HJ.
