Norfolk Invitational

In a match-up of HL ranked powers, the Yankton SD boys and girls came out on top at the Norfolk NE Invitational.  The Yankton boys withstood an early charge from HL #5 Benson (Omaha) and went on to win with 36 points.  Norfolk moved late to catch Benson, and took second with 58 points, with Benson third with 76 points.  Brad Anderson led the Yankton charge, winning in the time of 16:15 over 5k.  Joseph (16:25) and Jonathan (16:39) Metcalf went 2-3 for Norfolk, with Travis Brenner (Yankton 16:57) and Ter Diu (Benson 17:05) 4th and 5th. 

In the girls race, HL #1 Yankton was matched up with HL #5 Marian (Omaha), the many time Nebraska state champ.  Kelli Budd led the Marian charge, winning in a time of 15:27 over 4k.  But Mariah Hofer in 2nd (15:42) led a Yankton charge that saw three more Yankton runners in the top ten (Megan Hilson, 4th 16:01, Kristin Sternhagen, 6th 16:10 and Krista Kreager, 7th 16:13) as Yankton scored 36 to top Marian's 73.  Millard West (Omaha) was a close third with 79 points.  Stephanie Hauer (Bellevue East 16:00) was third and Ali Gress (Papillion-LaVista South 16:06) was fourth.
