Thursday 4/26/07

  • *Freshman Katie Flood (Dowling, West Des Moines) sets a meet record in the 3000, running 9:44.96 to outdistance second place Stephanie Mundt (Urbandale 10:00.59). Carly Olson (Logan-Magnolia) is third at 10:20.43.
  • *Stephen Dak (Marshalltown) run 9:15.24 to edge Devin Allbaugh (Pleasant Valley 9:16.95) in the 3200. Kevin Morgan (Lincoln, Des Moines 9:17.10), Adam Oestreich (Bettendorf 9:19.37) and Dana Schmidt (Grundy Center 9:19.96) follow in a tight race.
  • *Taylor Freeman (Iowa City West) launches the disc 151-1 on her first throw, and has two other 140+ tosses. Team -mate Danica Haight places second with a throw of 147-5, just ahead of Marin Thorson (St. Ansgar 144-6).
  • *The girl's long jump crown goes to Jennifer Jorgenson (Webster-Grand) who's last round 18-5 tops Mwale Kapande (Mt. Pleasant), who jumped 18-2.5 in round six. Round six also saw third placer Christina Airington (Davenport Central) jump her best mark of 18-1.5.
  • *Indianola freshman Noah Kittelson jumped 6-5 to win a tight contest on misses. Colten Kelly (Anamosa, 2nd), Jared Kuehner (Center Point, Urbana 3rd), and Kurtis Brondyke (Clinton 4th) all also cleared 6-5.
  • *In the shot, Matt Banse (Starmont) dominated the event, tossing his winning mark of 60-11.75 on his first throw, then topping 58 feet on four other tosses. Second went to Alonzo Beserra (Davenport West 54-11.75), while Ryan Lamparek (Prairie, Cedar Rapids 54-4) edged Nick Brayton (Iowa City West 54-1.5) for third.
Friday 4/27/07
  • *A.G. Bradford (Davenport North) leads the girls 100H qualifying with a 14.52, with Rachel VanderHolt (Arlington-Pa.) at 14.64.
  • *Jacob Rohde (Mt. Pleasant) and Alex Spielman (Ballard) lead the qualifying in the 110H, both running 14.69.
  • *Callan Jacobson (Benton Community) leads a tight pack of girl's 100 qualifiers at 12.47. Jarred Herring (Burlington) leads the boy's 100 heats at 10.90.
  • *Iowa City West runs 1:47.17 to win the girl's 800 sprint medley, with Waukee a very close second at 1:47.23. Wahlert (Dubuque) is third at 1:48.67.
  • *Pleasant Valley (3:27.98) edges Boone 3:28.33) in the 1600 sprint medley, with Mid-Prairie third at 3:30.14.
  • *A.G. Bradford (Davenport North) runs 14.28 to win the 100H final, with Rachel Vander-Holt (Aplington-Pa. 14.46) and Jessica Hale (Ventura 14.56) following.

  • *Jacob Rohde (Mt. Pleasant) runs 14.65 to edge Alex Spielman (Ballard 14.71) and Evan Thomsen (Regina, Iowa City 14.73) in the boys 110H final.
  • *Iowa City West's Danica Haight wins, tossing the shot 46-10 and dominating the competion. Traci Harms (Hampton-Dumont) throws 41-6.75 to take second from a tight pack, with Sarah Hoffman (Western Dubuque) third at 41-5.75. Danielle Frere (Muscatine) is fourth at 41-3.5, just a 1/4 inch ahead of three other throwers.
  • *Ryan Lamparek (Prairie, Cedar Rapids) tossed the discus 173-11 to win, shading Thomas Reynolds (Iowa City West 172-3). Adam Nicholson (Iowa City High) wa third at 163-2.
  • *Matt Kleven (Mason City) lept 21-10.5 to win the long jump, with Sean O' Conner (Winterset) second at 21-2.5 and Aaron Martin (Iowa City West) third at 20-11.
  • *Tiffanie Synacek (Jefferson, Des Moines) lept 5-8 to win the girl's high jump, with Megan Glisar (Sgt. Bluff) second at 5-7 and hurdles champ A.G. Bradford (North Davenport) third at 5-6.

  • *Gretchen Lamar (Hoover, Des Moines) won the 100 in 12.41, winning in a photo from Callan Jacobson (Benton Community 12.42) and Faith Burt (Cedar Falls 12.43).
  • *Jarred Herring (Burlington) won the 100 in 10.91, edging Sean Ratliff (Urbandale) 10.96 and Shubiri Sula (Iowa City West 10.99).
  • *Valley (West Des Moines) ran 1:28.14 to win close boy's 4 x 200 from Des Moines East (1:28.19). Iowa City West was third at 1:28.96
  • *In one of the most highly anticpated races of the meet, Ashley Miller (Tipton) ran 2:10.10 to set a new meet record, edging Blaire Dinsdale (North Tama 2:10.17). Both ran under the 2006 record set by third placer Brooke Dinsdale (North Tama, 2:11.71 today). 3000 meter record setter Katie Flood (Dowling, West Des Moines) was fourth at 2:12.56, with Olivia Johnson (Okoboji 2:14.52) and Ellen Dougherty (Sioux City East 2:14.93) also fast.
  • *Cedar Falls leads the girl's 4 x 100 qualifying at 48.97. Des Moines East leads the boy's at 42.67.
  • *Iowa City West (3:57.33) leads North Tama (3:58.15) under 4:00 in heat one of the girl's 4 x 400. Iowa City High (3:58.73) and Waukee (3:59.47) also win heats under 4:00. Valley (West Des Moines 3:22.00) and Marshalltown (3:22.15) lead the boy's qualifiers.

Saturday 4/28

  • *Iowa City High starts the day off by winning the girl's shuttle hurdle relays in 62.64, shading Ventura (62.86). Burlington is third at 63.07.

  • *Yesterday's record-breaking 800 runner-up Blair Dinsdale (North Tama) runs 63.73 to edge Deidre Hinkeldey Alta 63.74) in the 400 hurdles. Susan Rodriquez is third at 64.30.
  • *Kellyn Fogarty (Marshalltown) runs 53.68 to win the 400 hurdles. Andy Koehn (Tri-County) takes second at 54.73 and Josh Kingery (Knoxville) is third at 55.39.
  • *Katie Flood (Dowling, West Des Moines) dominated a great field in the 1500, winning in 4:33.92. Ashley Miller (Tipton), yesterday's 800 record setter, was second at 4:41.63, edging Olivia Johnson (Okoboji 4:41.85). Betsy Flood (Dowling, West Des Moines) was fourth at 4:44.07 and Brook Dinsdale (North Tama) was fifth at 4:47.11.
  • *A very tight 1600 race saw Blake Irwin (Pleasant Valley) win in a photo-finish in 4:19.09, barely edging Isaac Wendland (Charles City 4:19.11). Adam Oestrich (Bettendorf) was a close third at 4:19.28, with Devin Allbaugh (Pleasant Valley 4:20.56) and Kevin Morgan (Lincoln, Sioux Falls 4:20.61) also close.
  • *Waukee stormed to a 48.94 girls 4 x 100 win, barely beating Iowa City West (48.98) to the tape. Cedar Falls (49.22) was third.
  • *Des Moines East scored a solid 42.50 4 x 100 win in the boys division. Valley (West Des Moines) was second at 42.85, with Iowa City High third at 43.30.
  • *Waukee won their second relay title of the day, running 3:55.04 to win the girls 4 x 400. North Tama ran 3:56.97 for second, with Iowa City West third at 3:57.87.
  • *Valley (West Des Moines) ran 3:21.09 to win the concluding boys 4 x 400. Marshalltown (3;22.10) was second, and Mid-Prairie third at 3:22.51.
