Charlie Thorwelll Invitational @ Seward
Robert Partee led North Star (Lincoln) to the team title with a 17:14 5k victory, with Logan Williams (Christian, Lincoln) second at 17:26 and Jack Schrager (Omaha Westside) third at 17:41.  North Star (Lincoln) scored 21 points for the win, with Westside second with 51. 
    Kelli Budd led Marian (Omaha) to an overwhelming team win with 19 points to Sewards 33.  Budd, considered by many the state favorite this year, walloped the field, running 15:04 for 4k, with Natasha Mueller (Seward) a distance second at 16:45, with team-mate Kelsey Christensen third at 16:55.

Cozad Invitational @ Cozad
Kearney swept to victory in the boys and girls division of the Cozad Invitational.  The boys team scored 14 points, with Lexington second with 47 an North Platte third with 56.  The girls scored 21, with Broken Bow second with 43 and McCook third with 56.  David Prater (16:19) and Travis Walker (16:32) went 1-2 for Kearney in the 5k boys race, with Jarid Holliday (Minden) third at 16:50.  Jessa Sughroe (McCook) won the girls 4k in 16:04, with Ashely Oqborn (North Platte ) second at 16:13 and Kelsey Frye leading Kearney in third at 16:47.

Plattsmouth Invitational @ Plattsmouth
(Pius X) Lincoln won both the boys and girls titles at Plattsmouth.  (Skutt) Omaha (46) and Blair (61) were second and third in boys team race, and Plattsmouth (63) and Ft. Calhoun (68) did the same in the girls.  Josh Harsin (Blair) ran 17;04 for the 5k win, with Daniel Blake (17:14) leading St. Piux X in second at 17:14, edging Colby Twist (Elkhorn 17:16).  Erin Statz (15:46 4k) led Pius X by taking the girls title, with Samantha Soupier (Gretna) second at 15:53 and Alexa Oestman (Auburn) third at 16:00

Friday 9/6/08
Boone Central Invitational @ Albion
York took the boys team title with 28 points, with Columbus second with 58, edging Grand Island Northwest (61).  Jon Powell of Columbus took the win in 16:09 for 5k, pulling away from Jory Plasterer (Grand Island Northwest 16:13), with Dylan Obermeier leading York in third (16:16).  Columbus took the girls title with 17 points, with York second with 41 and Pierce third with 54.  Jena Schwalenberg led Columbus winning in 15:59 for 4k, with Jessica Driewer (York) secodn at 16:16 and Dana Kluthe (North Loup-Scotia) third at 16:17.

Nebraska Wesleyan Invitational @ Lincoln
In a big match-up of some of Nebraska's top powers, traditional powers remained at the top.  Fremont's storied boys program won their title with 48 points, shading Creighton Prep (Omaha, 56), with Bellevue West (61) third.  Mitch Hunt led Fremont, winning with a 16:21 5k over the challenging course.  Trevor Vidlak (Lincoln Northeast) was second at 16:39, Jose Nuno (Fremont) was third at 16:47.  Phil Scherer (Creighton Prep 17;12) and Nick Steinauer (Creighton Prep 17:24) rounded out the top five.
   Many time state champ Marian (Omaha) won the girls title with 44 points, edging Fremont (47), with Lincoln East also close with 53.  Kelli Budd (Marian) again dominated the field, winning in 14:44 for 4k, over a minute up on runner-up Holly Bussa (Fremont, 15:53).  Kayla Fenske (Fremont) was third in 15:53, with Britni Walker (Lincoln East 16:03) and Becca Ross (Lincoln East 16:09) fourth and fifth.

Omaha Burke Invitational
In a battle of Omaha powers, Millard West (40) took the boys title from Burke (Omaha, 61), with Papillion La-Vista third (82).  Jared Kenney led Millard West, winning in 16:39 for 5k, with Marshall Anderson (Papillion-LaVista) second at 16:49 and Joe Fitzgarrald (Omaha Northwest) third at 17:01.  Millard North won the girls title with 50 points, with Burke again second with 78, and Lincoln Southeast third with 90.  Brittany Phillips (Millard West) won the girls 4k title in 15:13, with Megan Oddo (Millard North) second at 15;31, and Destiney Burt (Papillion LaVista) third at 15;58
