... and it's Atchoo, Pinckney for boys; start line woes yield mixed results

Highlights
  • Rochester MI sr Megan Goethals, ranked US#2 in the DyeStat Elite Top 25, defended her 2008 title and shaved 17 seconds off her time with a winning 17:22 in the Elite Girls Race.  Livonia Churchill MI sr Sara Kroll was a strong and solitary 2nd with 17:52
  • After a scoring error was corrected where their top runner's chip was obscured and didn't read, MI D1#2 Saline grabbed the Elite Girls team title with 161 points in the 24-team field, which had X of the top X Michigan D1 teams and X of the top X D2.  D2#1 East Grand Rapids grabbed 2nd with 176, while D1 honorable mention Grosse Pointe South was a surprising 3rd with 181.  Top D1 team Rockford was missing its #1 runner and had their #3 suffer an unusual starting line DQ and finished 8th
  • Troy senior Michael Atchoo won his 3rd major invite of the year with a winning 15:38 in the Boys Elite Race, 17 seconds up on Grand Blanc jr Omar Kaddurah - who just edged by one second Temperance-Bedford 800 prodigy Nick Kaiser (15:56)
  • MI D1#3 Pinckney - the top-ranked D1 team in the field - got off the line late, but rallied to victory with 124 points.  D1#8 Troy, led by Atchoo, was 2nd with 159 and unranked Saginaw Heritage was 3rd.
