Spight wins deep HJ in 4A-5A Strong girls PVs; Neer and Scott star in 1A-3A distances
Team Champs:
- Class 4A-5A - Ben Davis boys 66 over Warren Central 28; North Central girls 58 over Carmel 53.50
- Class 1A-3A - Western boys 77 over Ft. Wayne Concordia Lutheran 47; Indianapolis Bishop Chatard girls 64 over South Bend St. Joseph's 39
Class 4A-5A Highlights
- In a battle of Derricks, Warren Central's Spight nipped Anderson Highlands' Hill as both cleared 6-10. 3-4-5 were 6-09, 6-08, 6-07, with 2 more at 6-06 in one of the deepest state HJs this year. Spight is the son of the 1A-3A HJ record-holder (7-00) of the same name
- Pendleton Heights' Ellie McCardwell won a deep girls PV with 12-06
- Center Grove's Luke Swift tied meet record with 7.39 boys 55H
- Merrillville's Rebecca Neville doubled the girls LJ (18-11) and 55H (8.27)
- North Central's Kyla Buckley won the girls SP at 43-08.75
- Lafayette Jefferson's Shane Wyant won the boys SP with 57-08
- Ben Davis sprinters went 1-2 in the boys 55, with Anthony Kimmons beating Matt Terrell with both at 6.43
- Warren Central nipped Pike in the girls 4x400 (3:57.65-3:57.87), but Pike took the 4x200 relay in 1:43.75
- Ben Davis rolled to boys 4x200 win in 1:30.11
- Event record-holder Westfield repeated in the girls 4x800 with 9:41.47
- Carmel swept the DMRs, taking the girls race in 12:30.83 and boys race in 10:27.05 (North Central 10:27.11)
- Brownsburg's Scott Vicenzie 9:26.64 over Craig Jordan 9:29.38 in the boys 3200
Class XX Highlights
- Culver Academies' Waverly Neer rolled to a 10:58.96 girls 3200 victory and ran leg on winning DMR
- Indy Bishop Chatard's Alex Metzger won the girls PV in meet record 11-03
- Western's Corey Scott took the boys 3200 in 9:22.93 and ran leg on winning DMR
- Indy Bishop Chatard's Daniel Hurrle took the HJ in 6-08, with 2 others at 6-07
- Indy Bishop Chatard took both 4x200 (1:49.50) and 4x800 (9:54.79) relays
