Carmel gets the sweep!
Coach Koeppen enters retirement on winning note, though boys score is close!

Team Champs:
  • Carmel boys 100 over Fort Wayne Carroll 110; Carmel girls 55 over Lake Central 160
  • MW#2 Carmel girls put 3 in the top 8, and 4 in the top 15, to score 55 and dominate the competition.  Kelly McCurdy led the way for the champs with an 18:26 in 3rd (2nd team scoring).   Lake Central was a distant 2nd with 160, and Franklin Central 3rd with 167.  The 2nd through 9th-place teams were within 42 points of one another.  MW#8 Northridge was just 7th.
  • MW#5 Carmel boys had a close call, but won by 10, scoring 100 to MW#8 Fort Wayne Carroll's 110.  Carmel's top runner was just 15th (J.D. Smith/11th in team scoring), but they had a 21-second spread.
  • After winning big invites and state series meets for about two months, amazing North Central frosh Futsum Zeinasellassie was finally beaten - by pre-season favorite and Fishers sr Drew Shields, 15:21-15:26.  It was a dramatic return to form for Shields, while last year's super frosh James Martin of Fort Wayne Carroll also showed he's coming well back with a 15:34 for 3rd.
  • Center Grove's Sarah Higgens took the girls title in 18:14, 11 seconds ahead of North Central's Emily Mossler.
