Three of the top returning prep vaulters set the initial bar for the indoor campaign with big early clearances at this USATF meet at Forney HS in Forney TX.

Mansfield TX soph Shade Weygandt, the surprise Texas 5A outdoor state champ last spring at 12-9, got her first 13-footer in the intermediate girls class to take the early US lead in the event.  She was 11th on the US list last spring, but was the top freshman in the country.

Bryant AR sr Spencer McCorkel and Clear Brook TX sr Maston Wallace each cleared 16-feet in the young men's division. McCorkel was one of last year's highly-touted group of 17-footers last year, with a PR of 17-2 that ranked him 5th. Wallace came on late, hitting 16-9.25 at his region USATF JO meet. They are the #2 and #3 returning vaulters in the nation.
