won the prestigious McNeil Invite in a landslide, scoring 64 for a 73 point margin of victory. The Eagles grabbed 5 of the top 18 places, with an impressive 24 second spread on the Texas state meet course used for this race. While the field was not as deep as prior years, as many top teams attended the Nike South Invite, Georgetown’s average was better than the 6th place team in last year’s state 5A meet.

"We moved into a new phase of training this week. This was the best summer and early season of training I have ever had with a group of young men before, and feel it will pay off for us soon," said Coach Andrew Braun. "We are excited about the rest of our season. We are moving our top JV runner into the mix with our varsity. He is undefeated this year and I am hoping his winning attitude will spark the rest of the guys."

SO#3 Tupelo MS
won the Memphis Twilight Classic in dominating fashion, with all 5 scorers in the top 16. Their 44 points were exactly half of the nearest competitor, previously HL-ranked Lee’s Summit West.

"Emily Crow (senior who was state champ as a freshman and sophomore) had a break-out race and we hope that she continues to improve and race with the same intensity as she did here. Maggie McFerrin has been leading our team and did not have her best race due to some sinus problems, but I look for her to throw out an impressive time this weekend (at Chile Pepper). Some of our other Jr high girls are also putting up some nice times and pushing some of our older runners," said Coach Nathan Hall. "Our girls have proven that they can definitely handle the larger races and competition does not bother them. They proved that at Great American with a third place finish."
