Kylie Spurgeon and Coach Caleb Seal
Owasso sr Kylie Spurgeon is at it again, breaking her own state discus record with a toss of 173-2 at the Edmond North Invite, making her the 23rd best performer in US high school history.

At the 2006 state meet, Spurgeon had a winning throw of 158-8, which broke the old state record of 157-10 set by Marlow sr Bambi Carson in 1997. She improved the record yet again in June with a mark of 160-4 at the Golden West Invitational. That effort was good for 3rd on the 2006 US list and made her the #2 US returnee coming into 2007.

Spurgeon, who has signed with SMU, increased her PR by over 40 feet last spring under the tutelage of Caleb Seal, a former thrower at Sam Houston State University (Huntsville, TX). Seal came on board just last year, and now serves as Owasso’s throws coach.
