At the Chile Pepper Festival in Arkansas, HL#2/US#7 Potosi MO got a sterling 1-2 from seniors Josh Thebeau (14:56) and Josh Mathis (14:58) on its way to a 60-77 victory over The Woodlands. Under great running conditions, Potosi averaged 15:30 for the 5k course, not too far off last year’s winning 15:21 posted by Foot Locker finalist Daniel Gerber and equaling Daniel Roberts’s (2-time national finalist) runner-up time. Potosi Coach Steve Davis said, "We ran well, though our #5 today is usually up with our #3 (both sophomores). We like the competition at this meet."

The Woodlands, coming off a huge win at Nike South last week, had a solid effort overall with 5 in the top 25 and a 15:53 average, besting their 2005 average by 25 seconds. "We were running against Potosi, #7 nationally ranked, and they ran like they were #1! The defeat came as a result of Potosi running extremely well. We were sort of flat, had some very good efforts, but we were just outrun," said Woodlands Coach Dan Green. A&M Consolidated was 3rd with 118 points and a 15:59 average, Lockhart TX 4th, Tupelo MS 5th and Rogers AR 6th as all these South ranked teams performed well.

Next: The Woodlands and A&M will not race with Districts coming up the following week, Tupelo hosts an invitational, Lockhart competes at the Gonzalez Invite, Rogers is hosting an invite on Tues the 24th
