| Friday 4A Highlights
- Mansfield Timberview frosh Krystyn Williams doubles the 800 (meet record 2:10.23) and 400 (53.88), and anchors the winning 4x400 relay (3:47.35) with a 54.90 as Timberview runs away with girls title. They scored 86 points, more than doubling the total of Lancaster (41), which had won the last eight championships. Timberview also gets an individual title from Richanda Hall in the 100 (11.80).
- Lancaster gets the victory they need in the 4x400 - 3:13.55 - to pull away and repeat as boys champs, scoring 52 and winning by 15 over Waxahachie. Their only other individual win comes from Howard Shepard in the 800 (1:52.69).
- Beaumont Ozen jr A'Lexus Brannon repeats her 4A jumps double of 2008, leaping 19-06.75 LJ (+1.3w), her third straight title in the event, and 40-10.50 TJ (+0.9w). She was also 3rd in the 100H(13.96, +0.9)
- Dayton sr Cameron LaCour takes the 110H in 13.58 (+0.8w), just .10 off his US leader, and 0.13 ahead of Lancaster's Kendall Hayes (13.71). Only Wayne Davis II NC has run as fast this year.
- Marshall sr Darius Jones joins Brannon as a jumps doubler, moving up from 3rd last year to take the 4A long jump in 23-04.50 (+1.3w) and then adding the TJ crown with 49-06.50 (+0.6)
- Midlothian soph Carly Kitts, the 4A XC champ, moves up from 7th last year to win the 3200 in 10:52.23, the fastest of the four girls 3200s Friday, then comes back to win the 1600 late in 5:03.19. Fastest boys mark came from Nathan Christianson of Boerne Champion, 9:21.52, to win 4A. Christianson's teammate, Ethan Doherty, wins the 1600 in 4:15.70
- Fast sprints abound, especially with Rosenburg Lamar's Errol Nolan in the 400 (46.97) and Waco's Charles Silmon (10.41, +1.5w) in the 100
- The fastest moment for the Lancaster girls came in the 4x200, where they rolled to a 1:37.44. The boys 4x200 was also very fast as Texarkana Texas, including 200 champ (21.33) Cobi Hamilton, ripped a 1:25.29
- Kingwood Park's Mariam Amadu took the 300H in 41.65
- After trying all season to come back from an injury suffered at Nike Indoor Nationals, Fort Worth Dunbar sprint star Ashley Collier - viewed as one of the top 2 or 3 nationally coming into 2009 - was able to enjoy a victory with her teammates as Dunbar (also without graduated Victoria Jordan) repeated as 4x100 champs in 46.25
- Arlington Seguin sr Ashlee Smith, 4th last year, took the 4A discus in 142-07
Friday 2A Highlights
- The Corrigan-Camden boys, paced by Kameron Horace's amazing day, took the 2A boys title with 60 points, 18 up on 4x400 runner-up Pottsboro. Horace took the LJ (22-10.50, -0.3w) and 200 (21.39, +1.3), and anchored blazing and meet record efforts in the 4x200 (1:26.46) and 4x400 (3:15.76). His 4x4 anchor was a reported 46.25, the fastest 400 of the day.
- Idalou's Sean Reagan repeated his 2A discus title with a 181-07

Friday 1A/3A Highlights
- Rochelle's Bonnie Richardson wins the 1A long jump (17-04.50, +0.4w), moving up 1 place from last year, then repeats in the high jump at 5-08 (best of first 3 classes). Those put her well on the path toward repeating her 2008 feat of winning the team title alone for Rochelle.
