Class 5A Highlights
  • Starkville senior Tate Tavaris blazes to US #1 45.71 in the 400m dash; Tavaris also took home 100m dash gold with his 10.48 and 21.73 200m dash
  • Asia Cooper (Murrah fr) won the 100m dash in a speedy 11.97
  • Starkville girls ran away with the 4x200m relay in a winning time of 1:42.70
  • WIth six teams under 1:30, the boys 4x200 was pretty hot; Natchez came out on top in 1:28.35, Madison Central finished second in 1:28.43 and Meridian was third at 1:28.99
  • Willie Calvin (G'ville West sr) took top honors in the high jump (6-8) and long jump with a 23-9.25 to beat out Cedric Collier (NW Rnkin sr) who jumped 23-4.5
  • Bria Rice (Madison Central jr) claimed first in the high jump with an impressive 5-9.0 jump 
  • Rachel Polk (Madison Central jr) dominated the discus field with her 135-4.0
  • Clinton Junior Stephen Greer cleared a 15-6.0 to earn himself the state title in the pole vault
  • Natchez seniors Rico Richardson and Ernest Jones went 1-2 with marks of 46-8 and 45-6 in the triple jump competition
  • Chansica Lanier (Columbus sr) hit a mark of 38-4.00 for her triple jump victory
Class 4A Highlights
  • Ricky Robertson (Hernando sr) cleared 7-1.0 for first and Justin Fondren (Oxford fr) was second with a 7-0.0 high jump
  • McComb girls put together a winning 1:42.66 4x200m relay
  • Rhandi Ball (Pontotoc so) won the 100m dash in 12.28 for the title
  • Ridgeland senior Kerry Robinson finished first in the 400m dash in 57.83
  • McComb junior Brittany Harrell claimed gold in the 100m hurdles (14.43) and the 300 hurdles (44.53); Harrell also took gold in the high jump with a height of 5-7.50
  • Booker Octavious (Moss Point) finished the 200m dash in 21.98 for the win and Demarcus Jenkins finished second in 21.99
  • Ebony Brinker (Pontottoc so) won the TJ in 38-2.5 and took second in the LJ with a distance of 18-7.5
Class 3A Highlights
  • Wilkinson County freshman Laspencia Brown took gold in the 100m dash (12.18) and silver in the 200m dash (25.90
  • Road to Millrose blogger Cory McGee (Pass Christian jr) dominated in the distance races with victories in the 800m (2:13.61), 1600m (5:06) and 3200m run (10:58.53)
  • Raymond freshman Kinshasa Bradley finished first in the 300 hurdles in 46.65
  • Raymond girls took first in the 4x100 with a time of 49.60 and the 4x200 in 1:44.41
  • Magee senior Micheal Berry blazed a winning time of 14.51 in the 110
  • Tyrus Mack (North Panola jr) won the 300m hurdles (39.62) and took second in the 110 hurdles (14.79)
  • The Boys 4x100m relay went to the line with Perry Central finishing first in 43.09 and Carthage second in 43.
  • Chauncey Anderson (Raymond sr) won the triple jump title with a mark of 46-8.75
Class 2A Highlights
  • West Bolivar boys won the 4x200 in DS Elite time of 1:29.27 
  • Trey Williams (Leflore County sr) claimed gold for his 14.59 finish in the 110m hurdle race
  • Winner of the 100m dash and 200m dash East Marion sophomore Tiffany Ford ran 12.38 and 25.61 for her sprint double
  • Leflore County boys won both 4x100m relay (43.85) and 4x200m relay (1:30.92)
  • J.Z. George took 1-2 in the 300 hurdles with sophomore Kim White (45.93) first and senior Dnesha Erve second in 46.01 
  • Just a quarter inch separated first and second in the long jump competition with Fred Jones (H.W. Byers sr) winning in 23-4.5 and Shaquille Perry took second in 23-4.25
  • J.Z. George sophomore Marcus Jackson won the high jump (6-4) and took second in the long jump 22-4.0
  • Djarvis Gatewood (J.Z. George fr) crossed the line in the 800m run first in 1:58.89
  • Youngster Kailo Moore (West Bolivar 8th) showed he can compete with his 22.01 200m victory
  • St. Andrew's sophomore Meredith Ury leapt 17-8.25 for her state title in the long jump
  • Frederick Wesley (Simmons jr) took LJ first with a distance of 23-1.25
  • East Marion junior Quentessa Bullock won the triple jump competition with a mark of 37-3.00
Class 1A Highlights
  • Coldwater senior Lanita Futrell showed sprinting strength with a first place finish in the 100m dash (12.41) and second place in the 200m dash (25.91); Futrell also was runner-up in the long jump competition in 18-0.00
  • Jonathon Brown (Weir sr) earned the 100m title for his 10.89 effort and 110 hurdles in 15.98
  • Mt. Olive boys crossed the line in 1:31.51, ahead of Drew (1:32.44) in the 4x200m relay
  • Pisgah sophomore Dominique Wilson claimed the 300m hurdle title with a time of 47.35
  • Drew senior Jasmine Smith won the 200m dash in 25.89
  • Donatello Luckett (Pisgah jr) claimed his title in the 200m dash (22.13)
  • A win in the long jump (18-1.50) by South Leake senior Jade Peavie  and second in the triple jump (34-4.25) 
  • 6-4 HJ earnes Wayne Holmes (Ray Brooks) first place gold
  • Candiace McIntosh (Houlka jr) threw the shot put a distance of 37-10.5 for the state title
  • Jicobe Jones (Vardaman sr) took home the win with her 36-1.75 triple jump
