HIGHLIGHTS
  • Vidor jr Jared Parker soared over 16-6 US#6 in the pole vault.  His series was:  15-0 o, 15-6 xo, 16-0 o, 16-6 o, 17-0 xxx - with a close first attempt at 17.
  • Home schooled sr Cate Westenhover was a late entrant in the 1600, but with a prior sub 5:00 at Texas Relays she filled the favorite’s role.  She shared early pace-making duties and blasted away with a final lap 67.9, clocking a 4:56.69 PR ahead of A&M Consolidated jr Keri Wood in 4:59.96, The Woodlands sr Nev Pilipovic-Wengler in 5:00.23, Kingwood sr Kristen Hanselka 5:00.30, Kingwood soph Sophie Blake 5:00.80 in the top five. The leaders splits:  74.2 Sarah Andrews/Westenhover, 2:32.6 (78.4) Andrews/Westenhover, 3:48.8 (76.2) Westenhover/Wood.
  • 3:48.52 for 4x400 gold by Westfield girls (sr Brintney Green, soph Erial Henderson, sr Tatiana Miller and jr Quinterra Charles
  • The boys 1600 was up for grabs, and Klein Oak sr Jeremy Warren took the lead on the final lap & won in 4:14.18, followed by The Woodlands jr Reed Connor in 4:15.45, Pleasant Grove sr Will Barry in 4:17.15, Clear Lake sr Chad Brown in 4:17.47, SA Holmes sr Nathan Pineda in 4:18.11 and Paradise sr James Hodges in 4:18.29 to round out the top 6.  The leaders splits were: 63.4 Connor, 2:07.5 (64.1) Connor, 3:12.5 (65.0) Connor & Hodges.
  • Westbury girls owned the 4x200, stopping the timer at 1:39.08, with a squad made up of (in order) jr Nicole Washington, soph Kristian Austin, sr Precious Nwokey and soph Christy Udoh
  • Klein Collins girls clocked 47.22 to capture the 4x100
  • The Woodlands jr Drew Butler claimed the 800 in 1:53.30 (Zane Hill 1:54.75), following the early pace and 2nd lap challenge from state 5A finalist Philip Pierott
  • 37.90 for 300 hurdles by Westfield sr Jamele Mason
  • Lufkin soph Amber Sellers scorched the 300 hurdles in 44.17
  • Klein Oak soph Kendrah Wren hit a big 18-10 PR for long jump honors
  • Westbury sr Ife Okafor claimed the girls shot put at 42-10.25
  • Klein Collins sr Brittane' Gaines sped down the straight in 12.00 to win the 100
  • The 4x100 was very tight, with Westfield boys crossing the line in 41.85 to edge Lamar in 41.86
  • Waller sr Jona McGowen cleared 5-7 at District and earned gold tonight at 5-4
  • Klein fr Hillary Montgomery led from the gun, passed the 1600 in 5:24.3, on her way 11:10.23 for 3200
