HIGHLIGHTS
- DeSoto jr Skylar White had mixed results, with a 45-9 shot put winner, but also three sector fouls in the discus, which kept last year’s NON champ from advancing to the discus finals
- Impressive 1-lapper by DeSoto sr Diamond Richardson as she broke the 400 tape in US#2 54.96. The Baylor signee “tried to go out faster today, as I usually run better that way. I’m happy with what I did (a PR), but wanted to get in the low 54s. Next week we’re at South Oak Cliff so that’s what I’ll be shooting for there.”
- Poteet sr Courtnie Allen was already the 300 hurdles US leader and she confirmed that status with the 2nd best performance in the nation, 44.23. Her quad was sore after the race which meant 4x400 duty was nixed. “We’re on spring break next week and don’t have a meet scheduled so that should give me a chance to recover.”
- DeSoto turned back a talented 4x100 field, as the team of sr Diamond Richardson, fr Brianna Mills, sr Hayley Shade and sr Nailah Williams clocked a US#5 47.52. Putting up a good fight was a very young Dallas Lincoln squad, as fr Destine Brown, fr Shan’nerial Jackson, jr Quachina Prince and fr Antranette Gillon earned silver in 47.85.
- DeSoto came back to claim the 4x400 in 3:51.44
- Poteet soph Veronica Jones blasted down the straight in 11.95 to strike gold in the 100. Unfortunately she felt a pop in her hamstring as she decelerated after the finish and was done for the night.
- Garland sr Andrea Torske was 5th in the state 5A 3200 last year, and today she tuned up for a return trip with a 11:53.30/5:25.81 3200-1600 double
