Defending champ Hale is the only one with sub 5 best. Fluehr has improved her PB by 2 second since last season and seems primed to dip under 5:05. That may not be enough to challenge Hale who is vying for her 6th track title.
Trinity Prep enters as the favorite, but not by much. They will be challenged by Dade Christian and Graceville.

1A State Best- 2:18.11- Kylee Skidmore, PK Yonge (Gainesville,FL)
State Leader- 2:09.00- Skyler Wallen, Northwestern (Miami, FL)
Skidmore has dropped her best by 5 seconds in the last month. With more competition, she seems ready to shave more second off from this tenacious competitor. Kurgatt is strong as well and young Mallory Bane has shown a nice turn of speed. Should be an exciting race.
State Leader- 23.66- Octavious Freeman, Lake Wales
Parker should end the night with title #4. She is .5 second ahead of everyone. The door could open if the events catch up with her. It is awfully hot in the center of the state.
Parker could end the night with 8 titles for her career, a feat accomplished by only 5 other athletes, her second four state title wins (only Taheisha Harrigan has accomplished the feat) and put herself within site of Juliana Reynolds state record of 13 state track titles.

1A State Best- 10:37.81-Kayla Hale, Holy Trinity (Melbourne, FL)
State Leader- 10:37.81-Kayla Hale, Holy Trinity (Melbourne, FL)
Hale first won her first title as a precocious 7th grader. Five years later, she holds the 1A state best,(10:45.13 in 2008), has 3 titles in the 3200m, 1 1600m title, 2 4 x 800m titles, and 4 1A cross country titles. With a win here, she will tie Ramona Saradakis(John I. Leonard, Lake Worth, FL) as the only 4 time winner in this event. Combined with the 1600m title this year, she could have 7 titles to her name, a feat accomplished by 5 other athletes.
Kathryn Fleuhr ( Community School of Naples) chased Hale to her PB of 10:47.56 at the Pepsi Relays and may be fresher than Hale who will have two races under her belt. Add Jana Stolting (Maclay) and Grace Thomas( St. Edward’s) into the mix and we have a very competitive field that may see three runners under 11:00; pretty good for the smallest division in the state.

1A State Best- 8:15.63- Trinity Prep ( Winter Park, FL)
State Leader- 7:46.57-Flagler Palm Coast ( Bunnell, FL)
Defending state champ, Trinity Prep, has a sizable margin of the next best 1A time (Community School of Naples, 8:21.56). Historically strong Holy Trinity and Maclay could give chase if they alter their line-ups in the state finals.

1A State Best- 4:19.14- Whitney Strickland, North Florida Christian (Tallahassee, FL)
State Leader- 4:11.14-Derek Wehunt, Sickles (Tampa, FL)
Billy Naylor (Wewahitchka) was runner-up last year and Taylor Peliska (St. John’s Neuman) was third. In fact, Nick Groome(4th), Jason McLeod McLeod(9th), and Stephan Warner(11th) all return from last year. With Whitney Strickland, the state leader, opting out of the 1600m, the next fastest PB of the rest is Taylor Peliska who finished second at the UT distance Carnival in 4:22.9. Kilgore has the second best PB and was strong during cross country. If the pace lags, watch out for Naylor though. He has an eye for winning and the 800m speed to outsprint anyone over the last 400m.

Sophomore Patrick Swain (Maclay, Tallahassee, FL) swept past Whitney Strickland (who eventually collapsed) at the 1A state cross country championships in November. He showed some true grit that day and has run 9:41.04 this season. He finished 9th last season. Ranley Gouse(Trinity Prep), 6th last year, looked strong in winning his region and setting his PB of 9:42.46 over Bret Butler ( Holy Trinity) who has run 9:43.13 and finished 4th last year. No one stands out though. Expect a very competitive race that ,ay come down to the last 400m.
