Another record for Solomon Haile Sherwood standout breaks Hereford mark with 15:46
Team Champs:
- Class 4A - Walter Johnson boys 48 over Severna Park 139; C. Milton Wright girls 93 over Northwest 127
- Class 3A - Athlolton boys 69 over Bel Air 74; Towson girls 55 over Hereford 84
- Class 2A - Mt. Hebron boys 57 over River Hill 105; River Hill girls 47 over Century 48
- Class 1A - Bohemia Manor boys 91 over South Carroll 92; Bohemia Manor girls 54 over South Carroll 69
Class 4A Highlights
- Sherwood sr Solomon Haile, having been cleared by the state association to compete, topped Graham Bazell's recently set course record, becoming just the 2nd under 16:00 with his 15:46. His performance was good for a 40-second win over Walt Whitman jr Andrew Palmer.
- Walter Johnson boys dominated at the last four spots to spread 37 seconds, score 48 and win by 91 over Severna Park.
- Walter Johnson soph Anna Bosse held off Eleanor Roosevelt sr Teshika Rivers for the individual girls title, 19:38-19:42. Bosse's time was the best of the day.
- C Milton Wright came from behind then pulled away from Northwest with its 4th and 5th runners, scoring 93 to Northwest's 127.
Class 3A Highlights
- Atholton sr Graham Bazell chose not to go for the Solomon Haile's new course record and instead cruised to a 16:29 win, topping teammate Michael Lynch by 21 seconds.
- With the 1-2 finish, Atholton built enough of a cushion to hold off Bel Air for the boys team title, 69-74.
- Bethesda-Chevy Chase sr Addie Tousley was the only 3A girl under 20:00 with her winning 19:59, 35 seconds ahead of Howard sr Elyse Birisko
- Towson girls put 3 in the top 8, and added a strong 4-5 to score 55, 29 ahead of Herford.
Class 2A Highlights
- Craig Morgan and Sean Kirby of River Hill ran 16:46 and 16:56 to give their contending boys team a great start, finishing 1st and 2nd overall.
- Mt. Hebron boys overcame River Hill's 1-2 finish and used its great depth (4 in top 12) to score 57 to River Hill's 105.
- For the girls, though, River Hill came from behind, gaining 12 points on Century with their last two runners to win 47-48.
- Century had the individual winner, as soph Maura Linde ran 19:48, seven seconds ahead of Mt Hebron's Becky Yep.
Class 1A Highlights
- South Carroll's Jake Zamostny ran 16:58 to take the individual title ahead of Smithburg jr. David Wilson
- Bohemia Manor came from behind with their 5th man to nip South Carroll for the boys team title, 91-92, with three other teams close behind
- Bohemia Manor made it a sweep of the Class 1A races, scoring 54 and making South Carroll (69) the bridesmaid again.
- The winners got a 1-2-3 finish, in team scoring, led by Jen Cleary (20:24, 2nd overall), but Brunswick sr Sara Fisher was the overall champ with a 20:11.
