Event Analysis (through semifinals)
  • 55 meters - Pelham Prep NY's Whitney Fountain took the semis in 6.9 after winning all four previous meets. She twice hit 6.8 seconds. She has 67 points going into the finals, with Frederick Douglas NY's Jessica Greenway an equally solid 2nd with 50.
  • 55 meter hurdles - Medgar Evers NY's Janice Jackson won the semis in 8.29, and has three other wins. She has a solid lead with 65 points, with New Brunswick NJ's Briana Barlow a strong 2nd with 54. Barlow won the previous week over Jackson; Jackson beat her the week before with a series-best 8.0.
  • 200 meters - Frederick Douglas NY's Zoey Russell took the semifinal in 25.9, and three other races, and has an overwhelming lead in the 200, with 65 points. Whitney Fountain, however, won Week 4 with 25.1, the best of the series.
  • 400 meters - Passaic County Tech NJ's Amber Allen won the semi in 58.4 and has a huge lead with 63 points. She ran 58.0 in Week 3, nipping Zoey Russell. In Week 2, Russell beat Allen, 57.7-57.9, one of two wins she has.
  • 800 meters - Easton PA sr Chanelle Price, the nation's top 800 runner (and 400, 500, 1000, this year so far) has headlined the series, giving it true national star power. She won the semis in 2;09.3, beating a 22-year-old record (that was set at Madison Square Garden). She has won two other times in 2;13.9 and 2:10.7. In spite of her blazing performances, Price trails William Penn PA's Elyse Wilkinson in the points, 47-41, since Wilkinson has accumulated points every week in the 400 and 800, while Price has just run thrice.
  • 1500 meters - The closest point battle is here, with QHSS NY's Elizabeth Briasco leading Benjamin Cardozo NY's Claudia Francis by a single point, 55-54. Francis has been hitting 4:46s most races, including her winning semi, but Briasco has been close behind and won 1 race.
  • High Jump - Catherine McAuley NY's Phyllis Francis leads Queen Tech NY's Chamique Francis, 65-49, having won or placed high in both the HJ and 800, with a HJ best of 5-6.
  • Shot Put - A good 3-way battle for points, with Willingboro NJ's Jade Barrett 55 points leading Flushing NY's Ashlei Alexander (52) and Teaneck NJ's Apresha Hampton (50). Barrett won the semis in 34-05.50, but Alexander, who wasn't in the semis, had won the previous week with a series best 40-08.25, as well as the other meets.
