NE#7 B. Hendricken boys, #4 Barrington girls roll
Unranked LaSalle girls impress; Smithfield sweeps Class C


Team Champs:
  • Class A - Bishop Hendricken boys 25 over LaSalle 110; LaSalle girls 28 over Cranston West 43
  • Class B - Lincoln boys 80 over South Kingstown 83; Barrington girls 24 over Westerly 77
  • Class C - Smithfield boys 44 over East Greenwich 44;  Smithfield girls 65 over Burrillville 112
Boys Highlights
  • NE#7 Bishop Hendricken completely dominated Class A, with 5 in the top 8, led by victorious senior Jake Sienko - whose 16:08.36 was the fastest time of the day.  They scored 25, with LaSalle winning a tight 4-way battle for 2nd with 110.  Cranston West jr Robert Allen was 2nd in 16:17.22, which was the 2nd best time of the day
  • North Providence got a 1-2 from juniors Alexander Gallo (17:14.45) and Adam Coogan (17:26.94), but it was only good for 3rd as Lincoln won a tough 3-way battle for the Class B title.  Lincoln scored their quintet between 9th and 25th to score 80 and top South Kingstown (83) and North Providence (95)
  • Smithfield put 5 in the top 13 to score 44 and top East Greenwich by 21 for the Class C crown.  Mt. St. Charles sr Daniel Appenfeller won the individual title in 17:02.07, 10 seconds ahead of North Smithfield sr Michael Martin

Girls Highlights
  • Sophomores Molly Keating (18:46.97) and Emily Papazian (19:34.83) went 1-2 as LaSalle took the Class A race with 28 points.  Cranston West followed with 3-4-5 and was 2nd with 43.  Though they were unranked in the Northeast coming in, LaSalle's 19:55.70 average was the best of the day, topping NE#4 Barrington's 20:24 in Class B
  • With 6 of the top 9 finishers, including winning junior Abigail Jones (19:16.25), NE#4 Barrington rolled to the Class B title.  Westerly was 2nd with 77, while Toll Gate jr Samantha Chace was individual runner-up at 19:33.71
  • With repeating individual winner senior Katherine Meinertz (20:45.46) and a tight pack between 13th and 18th, Smithfield made it a sweep with the decisive victory in Class C.  They scored 65, with Burrillville taking a tight battle for 2nd with 112.  East Greenwich sr Renae Miozzi was 2nd with 21:14.21
