New York State Class “B” Champion Chris Stogsdill (Marcellus) has put his college decision process behind him and has chosen to stay in New York and attend Iona next fall.  Stogsdill who is undefeated against New York competition going into this weekend’s Footlocker Northeast regional at van Cortlandt Park.  The only lose for Stogsdill this season was to Solomon Haile (Sherwood, Md.) at the Manhattan Invitational who ran the fastest time ever recorded over the renowned 2.5-mile course.

For Stogsdill, who has become known for his hard midrace surges,  it was an easy choice of schools, “the main reason I chose Iona was their success over the last couple years. I knew early on in my college search that I wanted to stay in NY for college. when I narrowed it down, Iona was really the school that has had the most success. On my visit there, I felt that everyone on the team had the same goal, and that was to win a national championship. What set them apart was that they were closer than all the other schools I had been looking at to their goal.”

This past Monday, Iona placed 2nd at the NCAA Championships in Terre Haute, Indiana losing to the University of Oregon by 54 points.
