9th Annual Shannon McNamara Fun Run

Rolling Meadows High School hosts the annual scholarship fun run.

9th Annual Shannon McNamara Memorial
Scholarship 5K Run / 2 Mile Walk
Sunday, October 25th

Shannon McNamara was a 1997 graduate from Rolling Meadows High School.  She was an amazing person, daughter, sister, friend, student, and athlete.  Shannon was a standout on the Track & Field team as well as the gymnastic team.  She was also an outstanding student and community member.  Shannon was a state qualifier in track while at RMHS.  She would go on to be an outstanding runner while at Harper College.  Her plans were to go to Eastern Illinois University and then become a high school teacher & coach.

Her dream was never reached.  On June 12, 2001, while a senior at EIU, she was murdered in her off-campus apartment.  She was two weeks short of her 22nd birthday.

In an effort to maintain Shannon’s energy and spirit, Rolling Meadows High School hosts the Shannon McNamara Memorial Scholarship 5K Run / 2 Mile Walk.  The proceeds from the race are awarded to qualifying Rolling Meadows H.S. graduating seniors.

The race entry fee is only $5.00 for students and $15.00 for adults ($20 late registration).  T-shirts are on a first come, first serve basis.  Register at,  https://www.signmeup.com/site/reg/register.aspx?fid=YZ2VDK7  or at http://rmhs.d214.org. This is for a great cause and also a great race.

This year we will have a special guest speaker.  Chris Solinsky, a professional runner, who runs for Nike will have a Q & A session after the race.  All registered runners get in the theater for free.  Admission for non-registered is $2.  This should be a very interesting session with this 2002 Foot Locker Champion, 5 time NCAA Champion, and a U.S.A. Track and Field World Championship Team member. We hope to see you there!
