Marmion has adapted nicely to AA...this team has a shot for a trophy on Saturday. Zach Young leads this squad. Ben Kanute has complemented
Young to give Marmion a strong presence up front. Will need to keep their split under 40 seconds for a shot at the trophy.

 Paul Zeman leads Belvidere North

Hard to believe that this team does not have any seniors in their top 7...in fact, they may run 3 freshman on Saturday. The Thunder looked strong
last Saturday in dominating a tough Belvidere Sectional. Paul Zeman is the lead man for this squad. Bruyn Yunk and Logan Volkey have come
on strong the last couple of weeks and have a shot for the top 25. The question will be on Saturday how the Freshmen respond to the State
Meet atmosphere. North will have to keep their split to under 42 seconds to win. Their first year at state they were third, last year they were second,
this year....?

This team was a big surprise in qualifying from the Decatur MacArthur Sectional. Ryan Root has a good shot of placing in the top 5 individually.
Evan White and Blas Garcia-Canga should stay within 30 seconds of Root. After that is where Centennial needs to improve. The gap between 3 and
4 is too great. If they can solve that, this team may be in the top 10 on Saturday.

A team that has been running in the shadow of conference rival Springfield all season. Going into the state meet, this team is hitting it's
stride at the right time. Brian Dixon has been running strong...he has a shot for the 25. Glenwood really needs Aaron Entemann to bounce
back after a tough sectional. The split can be under 50 seconds...this team is capable of that. If this happens, who knows how high this
team can place.

This team made news at the beginning of the year winning the tough Leavey Invite. This is a team that definitely has the right stuff to get a
trophy on Saturday. Their pack was at 24 and 19 seconds at their last two meets. They will need either Matt Neubauer or Marc Wilkins
to be in the top 30 on Saturday for the Wolves to have a chance with their pack.

Galesburg is getting healthy at the right time and will make another run at a trophy. Gabe Moreno who started out the season slowly has
come on over the last few weeks and will be a force in the individual race. Luke Junk and Josh Link head a strong pack that will need to
be within 20 seconds of him with an overall split of 38 seconds.

The Knights survived the tough Belvidere Sectional and will look forward to improving on last season's finish. With Matt Reusche finally
running like he was last season after coming off of injury early in the year, it gave Trevor Holm the opportunity to step up. Along with Reusche,
this duo could place in the top 15 on Saturday. A 45 second split on 5 will be needed if this team wants to return to Maple Park
with some kind of a trophy.

Coach Gene Jones will lead his boys this Saturday at the AA State Cross Country Finals
The Redbirds made it back to state after just missing out last fall. Stephan Rauh and Ryan Van Fossem are a tough duo when they run
together. The 1 / 5 split has been near 2 minutes the last two weeks....this has to decrease significantly if Metamora has any chance
of placing high.

 Skyler Ficht of Bremen
Bremen returns back to state for the second year in a row. Skyler Ficht leads this team. Their 1 / 5 split is around two minutes...A split like
that could cause problems for this team...Look for a strong run from Luke Bronson on Saturday.

Their performance at East Peoria last Saturday was not indicitive of the talent level that this team has. They got their bad race out of the way,
watch for a better race from this team on Saturday. James Clay and Ryan Rutherford are strong keying off each other. They have a good
shot of placing in the top 5 on Saturday. Brothers Wesley and Will Ward could be the key to this team's success. If their split can stay
under 45 seconds, this team may make the short drive back to Normal with a state championship.

This team breaths togetherness....after a strong performance at East Peoria last Saturday, the Irish look to claim a state championship.
CJ Elward has set himself up as one of the individual favorites on Saturday. His supporting cast came on strong last week and will need another
strong effort like that at the Det. Matt Birkel will need to be within 20 seconds of Elward, and their 5th man needs to be at least 47 seconds of
him for a shot at the team championship.

Team Overview

There are 8 teams that have legitimite chances to win the team title, but I think it will come down to 3. Belvidere North looked strong last week and is
itching to prove that they deserve to be state champs. Peoria Notre Dame made a statement at their sectional and could win if they keep
their 1/5 split in check. Watch for Normal University to rebound....they have the talent to beat both of the forementioned teams.

The Individual Race

CJ Elward of Peoria Notre Dame wants to win this race so badly...but the team championship is more important. Elward has been on a mission
all fall and would love to end his high school career as the state champ. Tyson Kinsley of Sycamore could surprise...he has the leg speed if the
race comes down to a sprint. Paul Zeman of Belvidere North is another runner that could win here. Also watch for Ryan Rutherford and James
Clay of Normal University, Ryan Todd of Jersey, and Ryan Root of Champaign Centennial to make a big push for the individual championship.
