Arlington Heights Hersey
Coach: Tim Phillips
2007 Finish:8th AAA State Meet

Ryan O’ Donnell SO, Sam Zielke JR, Brian Havel SO, Dan Laughlin SR, Steve Turburgen SO,
Carmen Motrano JR, Pat Derrig JR, Frank Gallato SO, Jordan Connor SO, Dan Derrig SR,
Mike Gorcy SR.
The Kevin Havel era is gone so to speak. Havel has graduated and moved on to Stanford But his legacy
and his actions will still affect the returning runners of Hersey. Erik Stanton is the 6th returner from last
year’s state meet. He had a minor setback in the last couple of weeks, but he’s had a strong training
summer according to his coach Tim Phillips. Juniors Matt Cwiok and Sam Zielke along with Senior Ben
Zielke will be in the running for the top 5. Watch for Ryan O’Donnell. The lanky sophomore has been
super during the summer and will be in the top 5 by mid-season. There will be some growing pains early
on, but watch for the Huskies come state series time.
Aurora Marmion Academy
Coach: Robert Rebenstoff
2007 Finish:7th AAA Aurora East Regional
Returnees:T.J. Hefferman SR, Matt Wenzel JR, Oscar Aguinaga SR, Zach Young JR,
Bennett Marsh SO, Mike Weiler SR, Ben Kanute SO, Ian Duncan JR, Andrew Schroeder JR
Joe Fuja SR.
Newcomers:Andrew Larson SR (10, 15:10 AA) transfer, Lombard Montini.
Marmion lost all stater Josh Stein but returns everyone else from a squad that ran good but could not get
out of a killer Aurora East Regional. The season looks brighter after AA All State Runner Andrew Larson
transferred from Lombard Montini. Watch for him to make a run at All-State at the AAA level. Coach Bob
Rebenstoff has the deepest team he has ever had at Marmion (24 years). T. J. Hefferman has been tough
all summer and will be a force in the Suburban Catholic Conference. The squad is deep…they could have a
25 second split from 2-5; the key will be keeping close to Larsen.
Barrington
Coach: Ty Gorman
2007 Finish:13th AAA State Meet
Returnees:Micah Koenig SR (106, 15:57), Jeff Robinson SR (124, 16:06),

Justin Yu SR, Jimmy Kelly SR, Andrew Roth SR, Scott Kimes JR, Andrew Foley SO,Kyle
Dockery SO, Ricardo Hernandez JR, Steve Johnston SR, Adam Maxfield JR, John Kress JR,
Jim Deroche JR, Josh Norman SO.
The main goal for Coach Ty Gorman is getting the pack closer to the front. Even though losing front
runners Matt Barns and Dan Quarfoot to graduation, the pack will be the key to success this fall. Senior
Captain Jeff Robinson has been the glue to this team so far this summer and looks to have a good
season. Also watch for Senior Micah Koenig, Senior Will Chan, Junior Chris Cogswell, Junior Scott Kimes
and Sophomores Kyle Dockery and Andrew Foley to make it in the top 7. The Broncos were a surprise
team to make it to state last year…don’t be surprised if the same thing happens again.

Keyed by returning Seniors Stephen Jurgens, Robbie Blotter, Drew Schmitt, and Al Lowe, Batavia is
determined to improve on last season’s sectional performance with a shot at qualifying for state.
Sophomore Matt Lash could be a surprise force for Coach Mike DiDemenico this fall. Batavia last season
had a tight pack all year, but they could not get the pack towards the front. Any one of the four seniors
has the ability to run with the top runners in the sectional.
Carol Stream Glenbard North

Dalton Bolard SR, Josh Chacon JR, Jeremy Kaiser SR, Jon Drummer SR, Danny Le JR,
Jon Hootman SO, Cade Boland SO, Ross Nikides JR.
Coach Eric Manual was hit hard by losing 5 out of his top 7 to graduation. He does return Junior Garrett
Gingras, who could be one of the top 15 runners in the DuPage Valley Conference. Manual will need to
get Sophomore Nathan Richards, Senior Eddie Schwabb, and Senior Ben Crosby close to Gingras for
success.

Returnees:Brian Corcoran JR, Dave Janet JR, Craig Rios SR, Ricardo Alanis JR, Eric Currier SO,
Brian Cody JR, Tom Tinirella JR, Pete Jaros JR, Tony Messina SR.
Assistant Tom Wasio takes over as coach of the Crusaders. This squad was highly ranked all season and
even won their conference. But the squad had a bumpy ride at the Niles West Sectional with a few
runners going down with injuries. This will be a young squad this year with 5 runners having graduated
led by All-Stater Rich Eber. Juniors Brian Corcoran and Dave Janet both had great track seasons and will
be the lead men for Wasio.

Mark Malatt JR, Sean Raddatz SO, David Mulhausen SR, Angel Portillo SO,
Drew Salzman JR, Kevin Toussaint JR, Andrew Lynch JR.
The talent is there for Coach John O’Hara, but he will need some more consistency from his front runners
if they want to initially contend for an East Suburban Catholic Conference Championship and ultimately,
a state appearance. Junior brothers Joel and Ryan Haberkorn will need to step up and lead the
Redhawks. Seniors Mike Mulhausen and Kevin Germino will also be up front for O’Hara.

Coach Dale DeVinney’s squad will be one of 3 teams aiming for the Chicago Public League Championship.
State qualifier Ivan Coronel returns with the expectations of getting close to 15:00 according to
DeVinney. Omar Caban has been pushing Coronel all summer and will be a pleasant surprise for Mather.
This squad just missed making it out of Regionals last season…they should go farther this time around.
Chicago Northside

Returnees:Cuitlahuae Youniss JR, Jonathan Kittaka SR, Wesley Latham SO, Charles Massimore SO,

expected. No seniors are projected to be in the top 5 this season. Junior Jimmy Connelly ran 10:15 last
spring and looks forward to taking his race up another step. Also watch for Sophomores Kamil Khan and
Jack Cross, who were inserted into the lineup at Regionals to be stronger this year.
Crystal Lake Prairie Ridge

Returnees:Matt Neubauer JR, Matt Tunnicliffe JR, Joe Devilla SR, Alex Wagner JR, Marc DiVerde SO,
Brian Taylor SR, Joe Bechler JR, Matt Hearne SO, Quinn Revak JR, John Arvanitis JR,
Drew Wilkins SR, Matt Dyer SR, A.J. Laska SO, Michael Pekovitch JR, Ben Chow JR.
Judd Shutt will need his Wolves to pack it up in Crystal Lake this fall. Shutt only lost Billy TenBusch to
graduation, so he will be looking for someone to step up. Watch for Juniors Matt Neubauer and Alex
Wagner to challenge for high places in their conference. A surprise, according to Shutt, could be
Freshman Mitch Wilkins who has the potential to be the next great Prairie Ridge runner.
Crystal Lake South
Coach: Richard Eschmann
2007 Finish:19th AAA Palatine Sectional
Returnees:Josh Ovodich SR, Joe Bruzzini SR, Ryan Kethcart JR, David Ludine JR, Wade Killian JR.
Matt Flannigan SR, Ryan Masey JR, Spencer Savage JR, Billy Flannigan JR, John Sullivan JR
Senior Josh Ovodich is healthy and is the front runner for a team that looks to improve on last season’s
sectional performance. South had a good 3200 meter relay last spring and will key off that success this
fall. Watch for major improvement from Senior Joe Bruzzini and Junior Ryan Kethcart.

Returnees:Max Rodrigues SR, Matt DeSolvo SO, Mike Moreno SR. Paulius Dragunas SR,
Andrew Lonergan JR, Matthew Koltis SO, Nouman Ali JR, Eric Guth JR. Jack Arnedt SO.
It was the kiss of death of sorts for Coach David Jackson…placement into the Schaumburg Sectional. Last
year’s team was one of the best in school’s history, yet they could not get out of that bloodbath. Senior
Max Rodrigues ran 9:39 in the spring and will be the lead man for the Hornets. The main thing that
Jackson wishes for is a good sectional for his squad to perform in!

Returnees:Billy Malmed SR, Dan Channon JR, John Youshaei SR, Iian Kedar SR, Pat Wylie JR,
Adam Tross SR, Kosta Loukas SR.
Coach Jeremy Kaufmann is very optimistic about this upcoming season. His team has just come off of its
best summer ever in the program and will key off that. Senior Billy Malmed improvement has been
immense according to Kaufmann and has the potential to be an all-state runner. Also watch for Junior
Pat Wylie, who had injury problems last fall along with Junior Dan Channon and Senior John Youshaei to
be towards the front. This is a squad that could surprise and be running down at Detweiller in November.
DeKalb
Coach: Mike Wolf
2007 Finish:12th AAA Palatine Sectional
Returnees:Nick Schraeder JR, Jon Mascote SR, Jessie Royer SO, Hank McPortland JR,
Luke Dubrick SR, Chad Oertwig SO, Matt Phannenbecker SO, Michael Salihoglu SO,
Tom Johnson SO, Kody Montavan SO.
Mike Wolf’s squad surprised many people last fall when they won the East Peoria Invite. The rest of the
season was a roller coaster, culminating with a 12th place finish at the Palatine Sectional. 3 Runners
return from last year’s team led by Senior Jon Mascote and Junior Nick Schraeder. We might not see
much progress in their results early in the season as Wolf is planning on keeping his sophomores down
on the lower level.
Downers Grove South
Coach: Brian Caldwell
2007 Finish: 14th AAA Schaumburg Sectional
Returnees:Craig Schieve SR, Kyle Enke SR, Spencer Zidarich JR, Joe Johnson SR, Bobby Castillo JR,
Jeff Laster SO, Brian Corger JR, Ed Erickson SR, Chris Madison JR.

season for success.

Returnees:Charles Dundy SR (58, 15:20), Caleb Mueting SR, Steven Carlson SR, Nick Gates SR,

2007 Finish:9th AAA Normal West Sectional
Returnees:Eli Sweatt SR, Devon Dudding SR, Chris Taglieri JR, Tyler Cann SR, Daniel Mazur SO,
Greg Dunn JR, Chris Shaw SO, Tony Thompson JR.
5 Runners return for Coach George Patrylak as the Tigers aim to win the Southwest Conference and
advancing to State. Their summer has been fruitful. Seniors Eli Sweatt and Devon Dudding will be the
front runners for the squad. Dudding’s last season was full of ups and downs; but he seems to be fully
healthy. Watch for Freshman Graham Sweatt, who finished 3rd in the IESA state meet last fall.
Evanston Township
Coach: David Phillips
2007 Finish:18th AAA State Meet
Returnees:Matthew Marol SR (79, 15:38), Jamie Merdinger SR (137, 16:12), Alex Finnegan JR,
Colin White JR, Benjamin Lev JR, Scott Klamm SO, Brian Bastian JR, Jon Moberly SR.
Ricky Sutherland SO.
Could be a rebuilding year for the Wildkits. Coach David Phillips returns Matthew Marol and Jamie
Merdinger from a squad that made it to state last fall. Watch for contributions from Juniors Alex
Finnegan, Colin White, and Benjamin Lev. Evanston will fight it out with Maine South and New Trier in
the Central Suburban South.
Frankfort Lincoln-Way East
Coach: Ross Widinski
2007 Finish:9th AAA State Meet
Returnees:Nick Sinadinos SO (100, 15:49), Matt Niendorf JR (142, 16:14),
Dan August JR (153, 16:28), Dan Hearne SR (162, 16:53), Sean Hosty SO,
John Niendorf SO, Pete Demaio SR, Mytchell Scott-Stirn JR.
Ross Widinski takes over as the Lincoln-Way East as long time coach Lisa McAllister has retired to start a
family (Congratulations Lisa!!!). Also gone are the 3 cornerstones of the program, Nate Troester, Ron
Revord, and Myles Scott-Stirn. Could be a tough time early on for the Griffiths. Sophomore Nick Sinadinos
and Junior Matt Niendorf will head the charge in Frankfort. Could be a tough squad to face by the time
the conference meet comes around.
Franklin Park-Northlake Leyden
Coach:Brad Henning
2007 Finish:11th AAA Skokie Niles West Sectional
Returnees:Ethan Rivers Sr, Ray Rivera SR, Mizael Carrera SR, Herald Alvarez JR, Rafael Crisosto SR,
Fernando Ramirez JR, Arthur Williams JR, Kevin Kriston SR, Hernando Sevilla SR,
Hector Patino JR, Amaury Michel JR
Could be the surprise team in the West Suburban Gold. Coach Brad Henning’s squad looks to improve on
its sectional performance of last season. Seniors Ethan Rivers and Ray Rivera will lead the Eagles. They
will need a very tight pack to contend
Glen Ellyn Glenbard West
Coach: Neil Duncan
2007 Finish:8th AAA St. Charles East Regional
Returnees:Nick Sanders SR, Joe Fry SR, Ken Wilhite SR, Adin Lykken JR, Jordan Cevval SR,
Nate Evans JR, Mike Swartz SR, Matt Oxley JR, Kyle Isaacson JR, James Burlingame JR,
Jack Nevins JR.
Coach Neil Duncan has made strides already in only his second year at the Glen Ellyn school. There are no
superstars on this squad, so Duncan will have to rely on a pack concept. Seniors Nate Sanders and Joe Fry
will lead the Hilltoppers in the tough West Suburban Silver. Unheralded early on, watch for this team late
in the season; West may make some noise.
Glenview Glenbrook South
Coach: Kurt Hasenstein
2007 Finish:7th AAA Skokie Niles West Sectional
Returnees:George Pappamichael SR, Jeff Takaki SR, Tim Zerwic SR, Jon Masek SR, Bobby Metle JR,
Tim Kreutzfeldt JR, Zac Avila JR, Jay Barron SO, Mike Tarczon SR, Will Davis SR,
Adam Meek SR, Alex Blair SR, Sean Freeman JR, Charlie Reghard JR, Mike Smith SO.
There will be no surprises this time around for Coach Kurt Hasenstein. Last year, Glenbrook South ran its
best race of the year at the Niles West Sectional, but was not enough to qualify. This year looks to be
interesting. Their lead returnee, Senior George Pappamichael, has been struggling with back problems
since early May. Hasenstein hopes to have him back running at full power in October. There is still talent
that will challenge in the Central Suburban South led by Junior Zac Avila and Senior Jeff Takaki.
Gurnee Warren
Coach: Bill Dawson
2007 Finish:17th AAA Palatine Sectional
Returnees:Karsen Green SR, Spencer Simon SR, Danny Kleine JR, Joe Florio JR, Mike Ricciotti SR,
John Marlowe SR, Chris Sizemore SR, Paul Myles SR, Xavier Surez JR, Joe Hegedorn SR.
A squad that could challenge Lake Forest and Stevenson in the North Suburban. Coach Bill Dawson leads
with Senior Karsen Green, who had a good track season last spring. Also watch for Junior Danny Kleine
and Senior Spencer Simon to contribute and push Green.
Highland Park
Coach: Kevin Caines
2007 Finish: 6th AAA Lake Zurich Regional
Returnees:Yosimar Ruiz SR, Jon Menke SR, Scott Rotschild SR, Spencer Bean SR, Matt Skolnik SR,
Jon Mintzer JR, Holden Sheffel SR, Aaron Swerdlow JR, Jake Nudelman JR,
Matt Temple SR.
A young squad last fall, Coach Kevin Caines gained some good experience in just missing qualifying out of
Regionals. With most of key parts back for Caines, watch for the Giants to be the key challenger to
Deerfield in the Central Suburban North. Senior Yosimar Ruiz is projected to be the top man for Highland
Park.
Hinsdale Central
Coach: Jim Westphal
2007 Finish:18th AAA Schaumburg Sectional
Returnees:Doug Moore SR, Alan Verona JR, Arash Darbandi JR, Andrew Silk SR, Eric Olson SR,
Joe Berg JR, Jordan Anetsberger JR, Alex Stec JR,Kyle Hinshaw JR, Billy Fayette SO,
Andy Tuggle JR, Andrew Jostus JR.
An interesting season awaits Jim Westphal and his Red Devils. Even after losing standout Thomas Fielder
to graduation, Hinsdale Central could be as equally good a s last season. Doug Moore could be the top
man on this team if he is a little more e consistent on race day. Watch for the Junior tandem of Alan
Verona and Arash Darbandi to push Moore.
Joliet Township
Coach: Doug Cherry
2007 Finish:15th AAA Normal West Sectional
Returnees: Brett Schreiber SR, Mike Oldham SR, Nick Kilcoyne JR, Jared Morrisette SR,
Dan Eicholzer SR, Jeff Lindstrom SO, Sam Wietlspach SO, Mike Gratzke SR.
Senior Brett Scheuber will be the lead man and also has a possibility of qualifying for the state meet as
Joliet looks to improve on last season’s sectional performance. Coach Doug Cherry will need a good pack
behind and close to Scheuber for success this season
Lake Zurich
Coach: JB Hanson
2007 Finish:7th AAA Lake Zurich Regional
Returnees:Andrew Morrison JR, Gerardo Perez SR, Paul Geimer JR, Joe Carabetta JR, Jake Paulus SR
Ryan Baartmans JR, Adam Burke SR, Mitch Hefferman SR, Elliot Sepos JR,
Tony Piecuch JR, Greg Bielak JR.
Despite finishing 7th last fall at their own regional, things are looking up as Coach J.B. Hanson and his
squad had a great training summer and look to improve on last season’s performance. Lake Zurich
returns a good 1-2 punch in Senior Gerardo Perez and Junior Andrew Morrison. Morrison might be the
one to watch…he ran 9:46 as a sophomore last track season. Also watch for Junior Paul Geimer to battle
for all-conference honors. A squad to watch for…they have the talent to challenge in what ever Sectional
the IHSA decides to put them in.
Lincolnshire Stevenson
Coach: Scott Sommers
2007 Finish:13th AAA Palatine Sectional
Returnees:Oliver Rose SR, Tyler Bartow SR, Evilin Vaszily SR, Benet Zalov SO, Tejus Shankar SR,
Adam Pauley JR, Greg Chavez SO, Lin Bo SR, Nathan Roys SO, Stefan Boes SO,
Kevin Wood SO, Justin Egert JR.
A team that could challenge Lake Forest in the North Suburban Conference. A good talent base returns
for Coach Scott Sommers  .Both lead seniors, Oliver Rose and Tyler Bartow, had good track seasons and
will build off of last spring’s success. Sophomores Greg Chavez, Benet Zalov, and Nathan Roys are ready
to make the next step up along with Junior Adam Pauley. A team that could surprise many onlookers
come state series time.
Lisle Benet Academy
Coach: Kevin Reinecker
2007 Finish14th AAA Schaumburg Sectional
Returnees:Jerry Olp JR, Tyler Hicks SR, J.P. Sullivan SR, Brendan Walsh JR, Nick Lehn SO
Matt Seiboldt SR, Dan Barrera SR, Steve Tancredi SR, Matt Parisi SO, Mark Coyne JR,
Jackson Jenkins JR, Brandon McHugh SO, Marlon Torres SO.
With the weather being cooperating this summer for most squads, Coach Kevin Reinecker and his squad
took full advantage of it and recorded their best summer of training in recent history. Junior Jerry Olp’s
improvement has been dramatic according to Reinecker, so look for him to have a good shot to be the
best runner in the East Suburban Catholic and maybe beyond. The main goal for the Redwings is to
repeat their Conference championship…and then they will see what happens from there!
Lockport Township
Coach: Tom Razo
2007 Finish:11th AAA State Meet
Returnees:David Inczauskis JR (59, 15:20), Ryan Mitsos SO (123,16:05), David Sajdak SO (123,16:26)
Mat Piotrowski JR (155, 16:40), Brendon Marolda JR, Joe Oldendorf JR, Paul Thomas JR,
Matt Orem SR, Roy Adcock JR.
This young team  just missed making our Top 25 pre-season ratings…but will be on the threshold of
returning to state again this fall. I did not receive any feedback from Coach Tom Razo, but I’ve heard
rumors that Sophomore Ryan Mitsos has transferred to New Lenox Providence. If this is the case, it could
hurt their chances to make it downstate.Razo has a great talent pool to choose from for his Top 7. Junior
David Inczauskis is the next great Porter distance runner and we should see him step up this fall. With
only 1 Senior anticipated in the Top 10, this team will tough around Regionals…even tougher next
season.
Lombard Glenbard East
Coach: Jack Brady
2007 Finish:16th AAA Schaumburg Sectional
Returnees:Nathan Peterson SO, Brad Magnetta JR, Denys Booth JR, Jim Peters JR
Marcus Hostetler JR, Mike Dexl SO, Mike Karas JR, Jason Sippel JR.
A very young squad emerges for veteran coach Jack Brady…no seniors are slotted in his top 8. The Rams
captured the Sophomore crown at the DuPage Valley Championship last year and will take the next step
up this fall. Sophomore Nathan Peterson broke 10:00 for 3200 last spring and could be the #1 man. Also
watch for Juniors Brad Magnetta, Denys Booth, Jim Peters, and Marcus Hostetler all to contribute. There
might be some growing pains early in the year, but watch for them in October.
Machesney Park Harlem
Coach: Richard Johnson
2007 Finish:6th AAA Rockford Guilford Regional
Returnees:Nathan Dufoe SR, Benji Matthews SR, Jason Hutcheson SR, Shadly Diab JR,
Lucas Steindenger SR, Chris Behling SR, Matt O’Rourke JR, Kyrk Fields SO,
Christian Troff SO.
Richard Johnson could have Harlem back up towards the front of the tough NIC-10 this fall. Senior
Nathan Dufoe will the front man for Johnson. Also watch for Seniors Benji Matthews, Jason Hutcheson,
and Lucas Steindenger all to push Dufoe. They will need a very tight pack to challenge Rockton
Hononegah and Belvidere North.
McHenry
Coach: Jim Wheeler
2007 Finish: 10th AAA Palatine Sectional
Returnees:Jeff Sabatka JR, Bryan Foland SR, Andrew McNulty JR, J.P. Veillon SR, Mike Friske SR,
Ben Adams SR, Nick Nalley JR, Mike Martorano JR, Rocco Zaccagnini SO,
Nick Grove SO.
It was a roller coaster season for Coach Jim Wheeler and his McHenry squad. At one point last fall,
McHenry was rated in the top 25. They will look to rebound from last year’s sectional performance. Last
year’s #1 man Curtis Weinsberger has graduated, but there is talent abound here. Junior Jeff Sabatka
could have a breakout season not only being one of the top runners in the Conference but also flirting
with all-state honors. Senior Bryan Foland and Junior Andrew McNulty also return making this squad a
team that has been overlooked again…but could surprise.
Moline
Coach: Tauwon Taylor
2007 Finish:18th AAA Normal West Sectional
Returnees:Jonathan Smith SR, Ian Miller JR, Nic Mizeur SR, Joe Zahn SR, Eric White SO,
Michael Castel JR, Luke Pedesky SO, Chase Mattecheck JR, Anthony McCammon JR,
Josh Johnson SO.
This was very young team last year and their performance at Sectionals showed. But, Coach Tauwon
Taylor has a good bunch returning and could win the Western Six Conference and make some noise in
the sectionals. Senior Jonathan Smith summer has been productive, running a 15:30 5k on the roads. He
is vastly improved and could be one of the 50 top runners in AAA by the end of the season. Junior Ian
Miller, Senior Nic Mizeur, Senior Joe Zahn, and Junior Michael Castel form the nucleus of a tight pack and
will be the key of any success the Maroons want to achieve this fall.
Mundelein
Coach: John Omanski
2007 Finish:14th AAA Palatine Sectional
Returnees:Martin Mena SO, David Duvall JR, Connor Boike SO, Phil Rykyto SO, Travis Stoll SR,
Sung Mo JR, Julian DeGuaman SO, Brandon Glaster SO, Kevin Price JR.
After a 14th place finish at the Palatine Sectional, Coach John Omanski hopes for improvement this
upcoming season. Sophomore Martin Mena will be the shining light for Omanski…Mena showed flashes
of brilliance in his freshman season and will be better this fall. There could be some growing pains this
fall for this squad.
Normal Community West
Coach: Steve Destri
2007 Finish:7th AAA Normal West Sectional
Returnees:Drew Kerscheiter SO, Austin Baer JR, Wade Rupard JR, Bryce Basting SO,
Tyler Tarmann SR, Hatden Ringer JR, Adam Wiebinga JR, Mitch Webrenberg SR.
Steve Destri steps in as the new Head Coach for Normal West. This team will be very young this fall, but
also very strong. Sophomore Drew Kerscheiter was the #1 man last fall and looks to do the same this
season. Junior Austin Baer had a great track season and could be closer to Kerscheiter. Junior Wade
Rupard and Sophomore Bryce Basting will be in the next pack. Destri mentioned that 3 freshman from
last year’s IESA state champion, Logan Abeling, Eric Gordon, and Caleb Wielbinga, all have a shot to
make the top 7. Normal West has a shot to make it to Peoria in November if the youngsters mature
quickly.
Oak Park-River Forest
Coach: Jose Sosa
2007 Finish:6th AAA Skokie Niles West Sectional
Returnees:Eunhawn Yoo SO, Alexander Brown JR, Cody Hague SR, Kevin Binns SR, Clayton Kirk JR,
Samuel Patterson SR, Sam Fourman SO, Paul Leo SR, Kevin Binder SR,
Spencer Strouse SR, Elijah Easter SR, Cullen Mooney JR, Daniel Wonk JR,
James Yu SR, John Dougherty SR.
Hard to speculate how this team will finish. Jose Sosa will have at least 10 runners shooting for 7 spots
this season. Sophomore Eunhawn Yoo, who is the lead returnee from sectionals, has only run 2 races on
the Varsity. 4 Runners, led by Seniors Cody Hague, Kevin Binns, and Samuel Patterson all have a shot at
the top 7. They will have a strong pack, but will they have a front runner to challenge in the ultra-tough
West Suburban Silver?
Palos Heights Shepard
Coach: Troy Walker
2007 Finish: 10th AAA Skokie Niles West Sectional
Returnees:Mike Prokop JR, Allen Urbaniak SR, Dan Hannapel JR, JeJaun Mauldin SO, Matt Park SR,
Dan Brumbaugh SO, Andrew Miller SR, Sebastian Hernandez JR, Patrick Blanchet JR.
Junior Mike Prokop will be looked at to lead for Coach Troy Walker this fall. Walker is looking for some
improvement on last season’s sectional performance. Senior Allen Urbaniak has improved and will be
close to Prokop.
Park Ridge Maine South
Coach: Greg Nordahl
2007 Finish:19th AAA Schaumburg Sectional
Returnees:Colin Baer SR, Sean Senf JR, Matt Przekota SR, Ryann Lynn SR, Dave Eckhardt SO,
Dylan Wallace JR, Matt Dolan SR, Nick Keenan JR, D.J. Lieu SR, Rich McKelvey SR,
Alex Bolin JR, Mike Moore JR.
NewcomerSean Ryan JR (transfer, Skokie Niles Notre Dame).
Will challenge New Trier and Evanston in the Central Suburban South. I like the talent that I see on this
team and I am sure their sectional outcome will be better than last fall, wherever the IHSA decides to put
them. According to Coach Greg Nordahl, this could be his best squad ever with a shot making it down to
Peoria. This team goes 10 deep lead by Seniors Ryan Lynn, Matt Dolan and Juniors Sean Senf and Dylan
Wallace. Sean Ryan, a Junior transfer out of Niles Notre Dame, should contribute immediately to South.
Also watch for Sophomore Dave Eckhardt to challenge for the Top 7.

season. Coach Nate Roe calls it “a challenge, but a challenge with the excitement of possibilities.” Senior
Sean Bohmer had a great track season and has followed that up with a great training summer. He should
be a pleasant surprise for Roe. This is an inexperienced squad, but they should grow up quickly.
