Heading into the second year of the three class system, rivalries are being established and new top programs are being developed.
The middle class isn't dissapointing anyone as the races are very competitive and prove to entertain.

Last years state meet brought a new course record for girls, as Nicole Benson upset hometown favorite Caitlin Comfort for the first
Class AA championship.  The battle for this years individual and team championships shouldn't dissapoint.

The following 6 teams should battle for the team trophies

East Peoria - Solid top 3 in Gustafson, Lohmeier, and Preston, If they want to
come away with the team title 4-5 runners need to close the gap.

Springfield Sacred Heart - can repeat as champion based on their incredible pack 18 sec 1-5 split
at sectionals last week..they have not been tested in the last 3 weeks and
should be well rested and ready to show the state what they are made of

Peoria Notre Dame - Led by an impressive  trio in Wynn, Dahlquist, and Clark however there 4
and 5 runners need to close the gap in order for a return to the podium

Crystal Lake Central - Impressive victory at the Belvedere Sectional, Maddie Edwards leads a
solid team that is in the trophy hunt.  2,3,4 need to close the gap between
themselves and Edwards as well as their #5 being within 25 seconds of their #4

Dixon - Again another one of those team that has strong runners up top in the
Sondgeroth sisters and Haley Thorpe....#4 and 5 will need to close the gap in
order for them to earn a trophy

Metamora - I sound a bit like a broken record here, Metamora is led by a nice
front group in Rauh and Flintgruber, if Jessica Bachelor can regroup and run
like she has a few weeks ago they could find themselves on the podium
