800 Meters
The States top seven runners all advanced to the final. The first two runner in each heat automatically advanced. Anniya Lewis of Culver City used her patented kick to take heat one in 2:09.77 off a very fast first lap of 63.5. Jordan Diaz of Leigh (San Jose), who had run just 2:14.61 this year, was second in 2:11.13 and Brazile Clark of Bishop O’Dowd (Oakland) was third at 2:11.43. The field in heat two was content to let the pace lag for the first lap, passed 400 in 67.0. Camilla Dencer of West Valley Christian (West Hills) and Kauren Tarver of Serrano (Phelan) took over with Dencer pulling away in the last 100, 2:12.19 to 2:13.34. Justin Fredronic of Carlmont (Belmont) was third at 2:13.36 but did not advance. Meghan Foley of Edison (Huntington Beach) took out the final heat in 62.0 only to see Jami Hardy of James Logan (Union City) and Mia Lattanzi of Palo Alto make it a trio in the final straight. Hardy pulled away in the final 20 meters to win in 2:10.46 and Lattanzi out leaned Foley for second, 2:10.64 to 2:10.71. Foley did advance as a time qualifier.
