Boys 100 Meter Heat Videos Event summary by Mike Kennedy:
In a matchup of the No. 1 and 2 runners in the state, Randall Carroll of Cathedral (Los Angeles) took a very small early lead only to be overhauled by Charles Saseun of Rancho Cucamonga in the final 20 meters, 10.47 to 10.48. It was a seasonal best for Saseun and Carroll was just .03 off his personal best in a race added by just a .7 meter per second wind. Joe Cooks of Mission Hills (San Marcos) and Anthony Riggins of St. Patricks-St. Vincents (Napa), were never separated by more that inches for the second half of heat two as both were times in 10.77 with Riggins getting the nod, 10.684 to 10.768. Max Dyce of Moorpark and Gavin Banks of Franklin (Elk Grove) dueled throughout the middle of the race before Dyce gained an advantage in the final 20 meters, 10.77 to 10.79. Of the state leaders, only freshman Brendon Bigelow of Central (Fresno), who had run 10.69, did not advance after finishing fourth in the Cooks-Riggins race in 10.81. Flash Results, Inc.
