DyeStat's Growth Reaches New Levels

The number of state sites under the DyeStat.com banner is up to four ... and that's only the beginning

By SteveU, News Editor

Although this has been an ongoing process for several months, we at DyeStat are formally announcing this weekend the introduction and redesign of our four state web sites. We present this to you going into the weekend as the newest of these sites, DyeStatIL, is “officially” launched at the Illinois Prep Top Times meet at Illinois Wesleyan University. But let’s “meet” them, one by one.

DyeStatCal (dyestatcal.com) – Rich Gonzalez, Doug Speck, Mike Kennedy and their team in California have been bringing us DyeStatCal for several years, but in recent weeks the site has been redesigned using the same basic DyeStat structure. With a change in software for producing the site, the process of “moving” the archives of material that the DyeStat Cal team – which also includes that produced by many photographers and other contributors – is ongoing. The years Rich, Doug, and Mike have been serving the sport, both in California and nationally, can be counted by decades.

DyeStatNW (dyestatnw.com) – The first of these projects took the DyeStat design and gave it a regional flavor, as well as incorporating some fresh elements. The site covers action in the NTN Northwest states (WA, OR, MT, ID, AK, and HI), with an emphasis on Washington and Oregon. Under the editorial and artistic direction of DyeStat assistant editor Dave Devine in Portland, the site has been up and running since last fall. Rob Monroe and Laura Magee also add editorial assistance.

DyeStatTX (dyestattx.com)  – John Sullivan has contributed to DyeStat since 2000, and has served in the last 3-plus years as the South regional editor and in heading up our DyeStat Elite rankings efforts and other statistical projects. Last month, the expansion of his role continued as DyeStatTX was launched, an effort to maximize coverage of the Lone Star State. John has long been an authority on the sport in his adopted state and is continuing to assemble photographers and others to become part of the team.

DyeStatIL (dyestatil.com) – Bob Geiger and Tony Jones, veteran webmaster and editor/reporters for IllinoisPrepTopTimes.com, are behind DyeStat’s newest site, coming on board for the same coverage under the DyeStat banner that they have provided for years with their old site. This development has been synchronized with that site’s longtime showcase event, the Illinois Prep Top Times Indoor Championships at Illinois Wesleyan University, and DyeStat founders John and Donna Dye with join the DyeStatIL team this weekend to cover the 2-day meet.

These sites will continue to develop and grow, with their own meet coverage, statistics, and message boards, and will be joined by others in the future. Plans are underway for at least two more sites this year. Meanwhile, all of us at DyeStat and our new sites look forward to working with athletes, parents, coaches, track and XC administrators and officials, and fans to make these sites the best of their kind.
