Another good weight field was dominated by the preps. Lucais Mackay, a University of Southern California bound footballer/thrower with great range (Shot/Discus/Hammer) from small Hughson (greater Sacramento area) HS threw 53.60 (175-10) on his final toss of the Prelims, then added a 54.03 (177-03) on throw number five for the day's best. Christian Cantwell, a Missouri prep, offered an interesting Prep/International comparison with the implements, as he had a 191-10 prep seasonal best, but was able to toss the heavier platter out here to a 53.14 (174-04) best. The North Texas State facility appears to be a fine one for the Discus, with what seems to be a steady right quartering wind helping right handed throwers present today.
