General Information

ELIGIBILITY

Full-time students in grades 9-12 who are eligible for their high school team and/or any high school athlete born SEPTEMBER 1, 1979 or later, and who have met the entry standards, are eligible to compete.  (NOTE: Exceptions may be made for athletes in lower grades.)

SANCTION

This is an open meet, sanctioned by USATF and governed by USATF rules. It is NOT sanctioned by any high school federation as it is contested after the official high school outdoor season in most states.

The Brownestone Hotel (919-828-0811), located on Hillsborough Street, is within walking distance of the track, and offers special rates and an ideal location. Rates: $81 single; $91 double; $101 triple; $109 quad

ENTRY INFORMATION

Individual Events (including pentathlon): $25 per event
Relays: $80 per relay (4 x $20) (All-star relays are unacceptable).

PRE-ENTRY: postmarked by Tuesday, June 1, 1999 and may be in the form of check or money order. LATE ENTRY: RECEIVED by Tuesday, June 8, 1999 and accompanied by $15.00 per event late fee – MUST be in the form of a money order or bank check. (except for those with state meets the weekend of June 4-5, 1999, in which case the late fee is waived).   NO MEET-DAY ENTRIES. Entries MUST be accompanied by fees PAID-IN-FULL, INCLUDING LATE FEES. Make check or money orders payable to "NSSF." Your cancelled check is your receipt. NO FAX ENTRIES ACCEPTED.

DIRECTIONS
TO THE TRACK

From either North or South, take either I-85 or I-95 to I-40 (both routes intersect with I-40). Take exit 290 (Hillsborough St/Route 54), and travel East towards Raleigh. The North Carolina State campus is on the right side of Hillsborough Street approximately two (2) miles from the exit. The Brownestone Hotel is one block from the N.C. State Belltower on Hillsborough Street. The track is across from Reynolds Coliseum on the N.C. State campus.

Packets must be picked up 30 minutes prior to the start of the event.

SOUVENIRS

Each participant will receive a commemorative memento of the meet and a meet T-SHIRT. In order to receive these, athletes MUST participate in the competition, not merely enter.

AWARDS / ALL AMERICANS

Foot Locker National Outdoor Championship medals will be awarded to the top 6 in each event and each champion will receive a championship ring.  The first six finishers in each event attending U.S. high schools will be named to the 1999 NATIONAL SCHOLASTIC SPORTS FOUNDATION - AMERICAN TRACK AND FIELD MAGAZINE ALL-AMERICAN TEAM and receive All-American Team certificates.

FACILITY

Considered one of the finest running venues in the nation, the Paul Derr Track is a 9 lane state-of-the-art facility. Only �" needle spikes or racing flats are acceptable. Hexagonal and pyramid spikes are NOT permitted. Acceptable spikes will be available for purchase at the meet.

RULES

USATF rules will apply. Protests must be filed in writing within 15 minutes of the results being announced and accompanied by a $25 cash deposit, refundable only if the protest is upheld.  Athletes may wear a singlet of their choosing as long as it does not conflict with their state association’s rules. USATF CARDS ARE REQUIRED. YOU MAY PURCHASE THEM AT YOUR LOCAL USATF OFFICE, OR AT MEET REGISTRATION.

ADMISSION

Admission to the competition area: $7.00 Friday (children under 12 - FREE), $10.00 Saturday (children under 12 -FREE); $15.00 both days. Entry is by admission ticket only unless you have a competition number or credential. Athletes/teams receive one coach’s pass only. Tickets will be sold at the entry gate and at registration. Competition numbers/credentials will be distributed at registration.
