Athlete Highlights

Dan O'Brien - 1996 Olympic decathlon gold medalist...Decathlon

world record holder...three-time decathlon world champion...Regarded by

many as the greatest decathlete ever... Will compete in the 55-meter

hurdles and long jump.

Charles Austin - 1996 Olympic high jump champion and Olympic record

holder at 7-10...US record holder at 7-10 1/2....World champion in 199.

Johnny Gray - Four time Olympian...Olympic bronze medalist in the

800 meters in 1992...US record holder in the 800 at 1:42.60...Set indoor

world record in San Diego for the 800 and 1000 yards... Will compete in the

800 meters.

Regina Jacobs - three time Olympian.. Runner's World 1998 American

Female Runner of the Year.... the most versatile U.S. female distance

runner of the post-Mary Decker Slaney era...American 5000 meters record

holder at 14 minutes 52.49 seconds...Will compete in the mile.

Tim Harden - the 1998 national 100-meters champion who ran a windy

9.88...Member of the 1996 U.S. Olympic 4x100 meters relay team that won the

silver medal in Atlanta

Lawrence Johnson - won the 1996 U.S. Olympic Trials, then placed

8th in the pole vault at the Atlanta Olympics...Was first African American

to hold the U.S. record in the event at 19-7 1/2 (in 1996))..Won

back-to-back NCAA titles (1995 and 1996) at Tennessee.

Eugene Swift - finished 6th in the 1996 Olympic 100-meter hurdles

final...has lifetime best of 13.21 in the 110 hurdles.

Amy Acuff - 1996 High Jump Olympian---Two-time NCAA

champion...Two-time national champion...1997 World University Games

champion...Has lifetime best of 6-6 3/4.

Michelle Burrell - 7th in the 1992 Olympic 200 final...World

Championships silver medalist in 1993 as member of the US 4x100 relay

team...Has lifetime bests of 11.05 in the 100 and 22.39 in the 200.

LaTanya Sheffield -Olympic Games finalist in 1988 in the 400

hurdles...Won the 1984 NCAA 400 hurdles title as a San Diego State

junior....Won the U.S. Olympic Festival in 198,7 placed 3rd at the

PanAmerican Games the same year.

Jason Pyrah - 1996 Olympian in the 1500 meters...Runner up to Jamey

Harris in the 1998 national championships 1500 meters..

Tyree Washington - Member of the world-record setting U.S.

4x400-meter relay team (2:54.20) at the 1998 Goodwill Games...Ranked 3rd in

the world in the 400 meters in 1997, 4th in 1998, when he ran a lifetime

best 44.29.

Tiffany Lott - Holds the world indoor record in the 55-meter

hurdles (7.30).

Meb Keflezighi - Former San Diego High state champion four NCAA

titles in track and cross country at UCLA.

Monique Henderson - Morse High wonder won the state 400 meet as a

frosh last year...Will battle Nakiya Johnson of Ayala, the World

Championships 400 silver medalist.
