Valerie Williams Again -- Record 42-8.5 Triple JumpWESTMINSTER MD - 5/22/97 -- Valerie Williams of Frederick High School broke her own Maryland state meet triple jump record by soaring to 42' 8.5" in the highlight of the first day of the Maryland State Track and Field Championships being held at Westminster High School. Valerie needed the big jump to overcome Ola Sesay, of Eleanor Roosevelt High School, whose 40-8 became the fourth best ever by a Maryland girl. The record jump will go down as wind aided because the variable breezes rose to 2.8 miles per hour just as she started down the runway. Valerie will try to break her long jump record Saturday, the closing day of the 3-day meet. See State Meet page for complete details of the championships. --> About DyeStat | High School USA | DyeStat HomePage | Links | MPSSAA | Records | Results | Schedule | Scholar | Search | Train | Views | Youth |
