Highlights
| The Boys Team championship went down to the final race with only one team over 30
points and six teams within 10 points of each other. Centennial had the lead with 34
points, but was shutout in the 1600 relay and Milford Mill surged to victory in the race
and the championship with 38 points. Milford Mill did not seem to be in contention, but
captured both the 800 and 1600 meter relays at the end of the evening. |
| Milford Mill won the low scoring event with a team of only four boys: Derek
Anderson, Derrick Stanfield, James Dixon, and Sean Galloway. In addition to the two
relays, Stanfield, a sophomore, was second in the 300 meters and fifth in the 500 meters.
Anderson, a junior, was second in the 55 meters. |
| The Girls Team championship was also a nail biter but Damascus had an
insurmountable 11 point lead to hold off the 1600 Relay victor Douglass-PG by one point.
Top seeded Damascus suffered a setback early when its favored 3200 relay team was beaten
by unseeded Catonsville in the opening race. But senior Kacey Childs won the high jump and
contributed with junior Carlesha King to a 2-3 finish and 14 points in the 55 hurdles to
put Damascus on top. |
| Randallstown junior Jeff McKelvin single handedly put his team in contention by
winning the high jump (6-5) and 55 hurdles (7.4). |
| Wilde Lake senior Nyjla Littlejohn was the individual star of the girls meet by
doubling in the 55 hurdles (8.56) and 300 (43.4) and placing third in the 55 (7.62) right
after the hurdles. |
| Third place Thomas Johnson got two individual golds from sophomore Lisa
Lushbaugh, who passed two leaders on the turn in a powerful last lap in the 500 (1:20.8),
and junior Jennifer Ford, who led all the way in the 1600 (5:18.4). |
| Linganore boys won the 3200 relay convincingly in 8:34.7. |
| Carver senior Bernard Williams doubled in the 55 (6.59) and 300 (37.2). |
