Already the undisputed US#1 in the 400, Kelly Willie came
to AOC Raleigh with an improbable goal: beat Brendan Christian in the
100 and 200 to give himself a shot at Track and Field News' Athlete of
the Year award. "I figured they give so much credit to the 100 and
200 that I had to beat Brendan to have a chance," Willie said. And
he pulled it off, winning both short sprints.
