Chaunte Howard

2002, J.W. North Riverside CA

After winning a national title in high jump as a junior at the adidas Outdoor Championships in Raleigh, Chaunte Howard had a sometimes frustrating senior year. Some frustration came from being spread across all three jumping events -- high, long, and triple -- with conflicting schedules. At the California State Meet, she took her 2nd and 3rd attempts in high jump back to back so she could run over and take her turn in long jump. She ended up second in all three jumping events. At AOC Raleigh this year, Howard closed out her high school career on a high note by winning at 6-1.5, a PR and 11th place on the all time HS list and just a half inch off Amy Acuff's AOC meet record.

at Raleigh, Chaunte Howard cleared 6-1 with room to spare
