The last throw of Glenn DiGiorgio's high school career sailed into the setting sun at North Carolina State University and gave him a moment to remember the rest of his life. Glenn is the middle of three throwing sons of Bayonne NJ tavern owner Dominick DiGiorgio. Despite winning many shot put championships himself, Glenn has labored somewhat in the shadow of older brother Kevin, whose national championship shot put of 69-8.25 in 1997 is still the meet record at AOC Raleigh. After finishing second in shot put to Kevin Bookout, Glenn turned to discus for his crowning achievement. It came down to the very last throw of the competition as DiGiorgio stepped into the ring still trailing Michael Robertson, 208-10 to 205-8. He needed to improve more than 3 feet to win. He got nearly 8 feet for a winning throw of 213-4 as the crowd erupted.
