Update 1 - Sep 16
Boys - Girls Royal Simi Valley CA boys move up to US#1
- Hilton NY girls retain top spot.
by John Dye
Marc Bloom's first in-season update, based on results through September 16, saw status quo at the top of the girls list and a slight re-ordering of the boys leaders.
Former #1 Mead Spokane WA lost to city rival Ferris Spokane WA in a local meet and dropped to sixth, with Royal Simi Valley CA, Ferris and Coatesville PA moving up a notch to 1-2-3. Meanwhile the top three girls teams remained the same -- Hilton NY, Corona del Mar CA, and Yankton SD. -- and Roosevelt Sioux Falls SD moved up from 9th to 4th.
Three new girls teams cracked into the top 10 -- 7. Torrey Pines CA (19th in pre-season), 9. Fort Collins CO (9th) and 10. Jesuit Portland OR (17th). In the boys list, Albuquerque Academy NM moved up from 11th to 9th and Posoti MO from 14th to 10th.
Fifteen teams who were unranked in the pre-season made the lists this time:
Boys 6 - 16. Brentsville VA, 18. Mountain View UT, 20. Trabuco Hills CA, 22, Woodridge OH, 23. Jefferson Alexandria VA, and 24. Campbell County Gillette WY.
Girls 9 - 9. Fort Collins CO, 12. Eldorado Albuquerque NM, 15. Marian Omaha NE, 17. Kingwood TX, 19. Minster OH, 21. Hinsdale Central IL, 22. Iowa City IA, 24. Saugus CA, and 25. Bowling Green OH.
