Another Blood-Ryan duel - Blood wins this one

Front running Saratoga NY sr Nicole Blood wins in 4:51.30. Warwick Valley NY sr Aislinn Ryan 4:51.91, who won on the last lap last year, launched a big kick from fourth at the bell, but was too late. Saratoga's Lindsey Ferguson 4:52.68 and Hannah Davidson 4:57.73 claimed 3rd and 5th, with Canadian Jennifer Biewald 4:56.13 between them in fourth. Blood's time was a bit off her own US#1 time this year of 4:49.05, set a week ago at the Greater Boston Track Club meet.

Blood avoided a repeat of last year's race, when Ryan caught Blood on the last lap.

Saratoga's Lindsey Ferguson sets early pace and leads the field through 800m
in 2:21 but Nicole Blood takes the lead with a strong move to gap the field
by 5m instantly with Areson, Fergson, Gawrych, and Ryan in tow.

Blood hits 1000m in 3:02 and 3/4 in 3:37.

With 400m to go Blood has a 15m lead and looks to be running away with it
but Ferguson is hanging on. Ryan moved up to 3rd with about 200m left and
then in to 2nd with 100m left. Ryan kept closing and if the race was
another 50m she may have caught Blood.
