New Balance Collegiate Invitational Feb 3-4, 2006 at the New York Armory |
High School RelaysAccepted teams as of Jan 26th. Updates will follow on Armory web site. Nationally ranked teams enteredPreview by John DyeThey may not match last year's attack on the 4x800 record books (boys national record and 4 of the top 6 girls times ever), but a flock of nationally ranked teams will be on hand for the three high school relay events -- 4x200, 4x400, and 4x800. Maryland teams are in the forefront. The Eleanor Roosevelt MD girls swept these three events at the Hispanic Games Jan 7 and at the Virginia Tech Invitational last Saturday. They are US#1 in both the 4x200 (1:39.57) and 4x400 (3:48.04) and are US#2 in the 4x800 (9:17.9). Suffern NY is US#1 in the 4x800 at 9:11.74. Also entered in the girls 4x800 are Boys & Girls NY (9:24.33 US#4) and Bay Shore NY (9:30.07 US#9). Also challenging Eleanor Roosevelt will be Hempstead NY in the 4x200 (1:40.49 US#3), Wilson Camden NJ in the 4x200 (1:41.14 US#4) and 4x400 (3:55.60 US#7), and Cardozo NY in the 4x400 (3:53.11 US#3). The Dematha MD boys rank US#1 in the 4x400 at 3:17.59 (only team under 3:20 this season) and US#2 in the 4x200 at 1:29.88, both marks coming in their nice double at Virginia Tech last Saturday. Dematha is only running the 4x400 here. They will be challenged by Newburgh NY 3:22.58 US#9 and Clinton NY 3:25.93 US#20.
