New Balance Collegiate Invitational
Feb 3-4, 2006 at the New York Armory

Donna on the Side

by Donna Dye

The 6th Collegiate Invitational brought the best of college track and field to the New York Armory. Nearly 100 colleges participated, filling the Armory with some of the most talented athletes in the country. Mixed into the program were some thrilling high school relays, 1000 meter race and weight throw.

Many of the college athletes were DyeStat graduates. Now, however, their bodies were more mature, more sculpted, and, their moves smoother and more discplined. I asked a few what track was like in college. All said the same thing: there is much tougher competition and more preparation in college. And, to this add the juggling of academics, social and athletic activities and you can have a very tense lifestyle.
