Donna on the Side

by Donna Dye

Rain and wind by the buckets didn't keep cross country fanatics away from the Manahattan Invitational. Instead, they came ready to battle the elements. Raincoats and umbrellas were many and everywhere except the course. But it didn't matter. Few could hide from the rain and wind. In time, all wet and tired, they just accepted the rain, ran, cheered or both. But in spite of the weather, there were bright spots coming from the smiles on the side.

No Picnic At Van Cortlandt Park

Van Cortlandt Park is in the Bronx New York. Starting at 242nd Street, the park consists of 1,146 acres of ridges and valleys. It is New York City's third largest park. Van Cortlandt is home to the country's first public golf course, the oldest house in the Bronx, and the borough's largest freshwater lake.
