DONNA ON THE SIDE - Meet Time

DONNA ON THE SIDE AT ARCADIA
before the meet -- we stop to smell the flowers
at the meet -- all the action on the sidelines Friday and Saturday nights - the sidelines, smiles and waves - SPARQ, opening ceremonies, MVP's - sprints and hurdles - distance - relays - jumps and throws - athletes on the side - workerbees.

The Arcadia High School provides a most spacious and scenic facility for the 38th Arcadia Invitational. The San Gabirel Mountains that rise above the press box and grand stand make for a spectacular backdrop for the exciting, elite performances on the track and field. The Arcadia Invitational is one of, if not the biggest high school track and field meet for both participating athletes and spectators. This year the meet boasts athletes from 26 states and approximately 7,500 participants watching from 2 grand stands (one on each side of the field) with many more people pressing against the fences, and at the discus and shot put areas. New this year is an articificial surface on the infield that feels and acts natural. This makes it so much easier on athletes, officials and volunteers.
