Beautiful sunny Saturday follows cold, windy Friday. Attendance of 24,200 is second largest in 78 years.

Saturday totally different from Friday, beautiful weather in the afternoon, some cool winds. Sunny. Morning cool in the 50 range wth strong winds. 22,000 attend and Maurice Green and Marion Jones headline GOLD SECTION in the afternoon with John Capel and Muna Lee also on the track.

Girls DT- Rachel Talbert (home schooled, Wichita 12) scores second win with a 148-0 toss, Kate Schaake (Independent, Wichita 12) close second at 146-9 and Jasmine Mosley (Bellevue East NE 11) third at 140-7.

Girls TJ- Jabarbara Jennings (Hickman, Columbia MO 10) also scores a double win at 36-0 (NWI). Shana White (10) gives Hickman 1-2 at 35-11.25 and Ali Shaffer (12) third at 35-4.

Boys 110H Heats- Heat 1-Brice Wilson (Heights, Wichita 12) 14.74, Heat 2-Tyler Antwine (Osawatomie 12) 14.69, Heat 3- Gary Jackson (Park Hill, Kansas City MO 11) 14.84, Heat 4- Justin Thornton (St. Joseph Central MO 12) 14.77, Heat 5- Jared Huske (Highland Park, Topeka 12) 14.40.

Boys 400 final- Gerron Herring (Park Hill, Kansas City MO 12) pulls away to a convincing win in 48.47. Jerron Forte (Center, Kansas City MO 11) second at 49.41 and Lukas Hulett (Bellevue East NE) third at 49.68, with James Butler (Ladue MO) 49.98 and Jared Huske (Highland Park, Topeka 12) 50.38.

Girls 400 final- De Angela McDougald (Junction City 10) wins narrowly at 57.36 from Charity Stowers (Leavenworth 12) 57.75, with Kendra Bradley (Leavenworth 10) third at 58.83.

Boys 4 x 100- Jenks OK runs off in the homestretch 43.54 to win with Olathe North second at 43.68 and Hazelwood West MO third 43.74.

Girls 4 x 100- Ladue MO runs a KU record 48.43 to win with Bishop Miege, Shawnee Mission second at 48.82 and Washington, Tulsa OK third at 48.88

Boys 100- Gerron Herring (Park Hill, Kansas City MO 12) runs 10.87 for another title, with DJ Hord (Rockhurst, Kansas City MO 12) second at 10.99 and Randy Shepard (Olathe North 12) third at 11.01

Girls 100- Victoria Howard (Blue Valley West 12) goes 12.14 to win, with Sholisa Williams (Bishop Miege, Shawnee Mission 10) second at 12.21 and Brittany Bruce (Lee's Summit West MO 09) third at 12.26.

Boys 110H- Jared Huske (Highland Park, Topeka 12) blitzes a KU record 13.92 in LEGAL wind to win by a huge margin. Tyler Antwine (Osawatomie 12) second at 14.55 and Brice Wilson (Heights, Wichita 12) third at 14.82.

Girls 100H- Danielle Gilchrist (Union, Tulsa OK 11) was as dominant in the girls hurdles as Huske in the boys. Runs 14.34 to win by a large margin. Melesa Johnson (Bishop Miege, Shawnee Mission 10) second at 15.02 and Katie Gueval (Burlington 10) third at 15.19.

Girls 4 x 200- Jenks OK runs to a narrow 1:29.77- 1:30.11 win over Sooner state rival Union, Tulsa OK. Third goes to Free State, Lawrence (1:31.07).

Boys TJ- Jacob Fuller (Hutchinson 12) jumps 47-1 to win, with Brandon Chapman (Independent, Wichita 12) second at 46-6 and Milton Henry (Sumner Academy, Kansas City 12) third at 46-0.

Boys DT- Andrew Jones (Hiawatha 12) has only one fair throw, but 179-1 is good enough to win. Eric Thomas (Thomas More Prep, Hays 11) goes 175-10 for second (five throws over 170-0) and Kenny Howard (Grand Island Central NE 12) 171-6 to take third on second best throw from Josh Mathiasmeier (Aquinas, Overland Park 11).

Boys 4 x 200- In a tremendously exciting race, Ladue MO edges Leavenworth by .01 to win in 1:42.23 as both go under the Relays record. Washington, Tulsa OK is third a 1:43.69, also under the record.

Girls 4 x 800- Lee's Summit North completes a distance relay triple, with a 9:52.58 win, moving away from Union, Tulsa OK (9:54.29) and early leader Clay Center (9:57.65) in the homestretch.

Boys 4 x 800- North Star, Lincoln NE moved to a lead mid-way and held on to win in 7;58.65. Shawnee Mission Northwest was second at 8:05.10 and Heights, Wichita ran 8:08.53 to take third from Free State, Lawrence (8:08.53) with Fort Collins close.

Girls 1600- Nicole Burr (Onalaska 11) gapped the field in lap three, and held on to win in 5;06.72. Fast closing Laura Roxberg (Blue Valley Northwest 9) was second at 5:08.14 and Alysha Valencia (Free State, Lawrence 10) was third at 5:09.75, edging Rachel Newland (Liberty MO 12) 5:09.85.

Boys 1600- Casey Johnson (DeSoto 12) added this title to his 800 crown by again moving midway to the front and fighting off all challengers, winning in 4;22.89. Tim Cornell (Hickman, Columbia MO 12) was second at 4:24.75 and Kip Hill (Liberty MO) third at 4:25.30 as twelve broke 4;30.

Girls Sprint Medley- Hutchinson ran 4;17.63 to win with Emporia second at 4;20.97 and Wichita Northwest third at 4;22.09

Boys Sprint Medley- Fort Collins CO ran 3;38.29 to win with Junction City second at 3:39.0 and Carroll, Wichita third at 3:39.64.

Girls 4 x 400- Leavenworth won a thriller,running 4:04.19 to win from Ladue MO (4:04.40) with Littleton CO third at 4:05.64.

Boys 4 x 400- Jenks OK ran 3:25.01 to win with Littleton CO (3:26.16) and Heights, Wichita (3:26.20) second and third.

Cold with 30 mph winds, overcast skies with occasional rain.

Boys Shotput--Eric Thomas (Thomas More Prep, Hays 11) throws 61-5.25 on his last toss to win from Brian Allen (Joplin MO 12) 59-10.25 with Caleb Blakesley (Ottawa 12) third at 58-11.25.

Girl Pole Vault- Abbey Stockstill (McPherson 12) wins on misses at 10-6 from Natalie Willer (Elkhorn NE 10), with Jessica Miner (Carthage MO 12) and Sophia Crawford (Belleville 12) tied for third at the same height.

Boys HJ- Dustin Andrews (Lee's Summit North MO 11) clears 6-6.25 to win with Kerrin Payne (Raytown South MO ) and Greg Clawson (Colgan, Pittsburg) going 2-3 at 6-5. Gusty headwinds made jumping difficult.

Girl LJ- Jabarbara Jennings (Hickman, Columbia MO 10) wins at 18-5 on second best jump from Kelli Dring (Kearney NE 12). Kelly Reardon (Notre Dame de Sion, Kansas City MO) third at 17-10.75.

Girls JT- Rachel Talbert (home-schooled, Wichita 12) throws 136-3 in terrible conditions to win. Jayci Peters (Great Bend 12) 130-6 second, Roxanne Grizzle (DeSoto 9) 129-4 in third.

Girls HJ- Allison Mayfield (Aquinas, Overland Park 9) goes 5-6.5 to win in gusty headwinds. Rachael Stevens (McPherson 12) also 5-6.6 in second, and Kelsey Erb (Bucklin 11) goes 5-5.25 in third.

Boys LJ- Robert Rands (Bellevue East NE 12) goes 24-6.5 to win big (NWI). Jake Sharp (Salina Central 11) second at 22-11, and Gerron Herring (Park Hill, Kansas City MO 12) begins a big weekend with a 22-7 in third.

Boys PV- Jeremy Jones (Concordia 12) goes 16-0 to win. Teammates Adam Ross (15-0) and Ryan Hays 14-6 (both Truman, Independence MO 12) go 2-3.

Girls SP- Jasmine Mosley (Bellevue East NE 11) thrwos 45-0 to win. Janae Voelker (Newton 11) goes 44-1.25 in second and Kayla Smith (Concordia 12) 42-4 in third. Eight over 40 feet.

Boys JT- Luke Laird (Gardner-Edgerton 10) throws 180-1 on his first throw, which holds up to win. Mark Spencer (Leavenworth 12) throws 177-10 and Harry Ruzicka (Independent, Wichita 12) 175-10 in 2-3.

Girls 800- Laura Roxberg (Blue Valley Northwest 9) makes a strong homestretch move to win in 2;14.66. Layne Moore (Emporia 10) 2:17.82 and Kristin Wolkey (Shawnee Mission North 12) 2:18.61 in 2-3.

Boys 800- Casey Johnson (DeSoto 12) breaks to the front just past the 400 and holds on to win in 1:53.52. Jason Collett (Aquinas, Overland Park 12) goes 1:54.31 in second and Chris Clymer (North Star, Lincoln NE 12) 1:54.70 in third. Fourteen under 2:00.

Girls 4 x mile- Lee's Summit North MO runs away to win in KU record 22:11.0. Junction City second at 23;01 and Mill Valley, DeSoto third in 23:14.1

Boys 4 x mile- Fort Collins CO moves away on the last lap to win in a KU record 18:04.21, with Shawnee Mission Northwest also close at 18:08.25 and Liberty MO at 18:08.16 as all three are under the former record.

Girls Shuttle Hurdle Relay--Littleton CO goes 1;06.54 for a KU record, with Shawnee Mission Northwest second (1:07.74 also under the record) and Blue Springs MO third 1:08.28

Boys Shuttle Hurdle Relay--Union, Tulsa OK runs 1;05.14 to photo-finish in front of Shawnee Mission North (1;05.16). William Chrisman, Independence MO third at 1:08.72.

Boys 3200- Jacob Boone (Lee's Summit North MO 11) holds on for a 9:26.49 win over Kip Hill (Liberty MO 11) 9:27.40, Kyle Carney (Dakota Ridge CO 12 9:27.47) and Bret Musser (St. Joseph Central MO 12) 9:29.22, with twenty-two under 10:00.

Boys Distance Medley- Shawnee Mission Northwest pulls away to a 10:38.51 win, with Fort Collins CO second at 10:47.5 to edge Free State, Lawrence (10.48.61) with two others within three seconds.
