Here are athletes and events to keep an eye on at GSW.

LOOK OUT FOR THE NEW MEXICO LOCALS

Cody Harper of the Academy in Albuquerque, who is ranked in the 800 Meters with a time of 1:50.7 will challenge the record of 1:50.30 and will be a member or the 4X400 team.

Chris Williams of Rio Rancho will be a work horse for the New Mexico. He is entered in the 200 Meter Dash of 21.15, 400 Meter Dash of 48.39, 4X100 Meter Relay and High Jump of 6"101/2".

Highland High School in Albuquerque will be represented by Anthony Fairbanks nationally ranked in the Javelin with a throw of 212'4".

In the short sprints Jerrell Miller of Highland, 100 Meter Dash-10.75 and 200 Meter Dash-21.51 and Johnny Rebeiro of Albuquerque Academy in the 100 Meter Dash-10.51.

In the throws Phil Harrison of Highland High School will be a contender for medaling in the Shot Put-59'10" and Discus-185'5"

CATCH THESE OUT OF TOWN ATHLETES

In the 100 Meter Dash, BJ Bashorun and James Warren of Oklahoma will have the rest of the field chasing them with times of 10.49 and 10.22. The 200 Meter Dash Chris Williams of Rio Rancho comes in with the top seed time but will be challenged by Shyron Champange of Lousisana-21.32, Dominque Matthews of Weatherford, Oklahoma, with a time of 21.2. In the 400 Meter Dash, LaGerald Betters of Waco, Texas, the champion in 5A, comes in with a nationally ranked time of 46.60 and if pushed by Nate Yorks of Denver, we might see the record of 46.08 tumbled. In the 800 Meter Run, Cody Harper of Albuquerque Academy will be challenged by Will Schroeder of San Antonio with a 1:51.0. In the 1500 Meters Ken Cormier of Douglas, Arizona with a time of 4:11.17 will have his hands full with the Texan Scott McPherson of Plano whose time is 4:12.14. The field will be chasing Tim Mcleod of Tucson with his time of 9:03.6. Sawyer Bosch of Idaho is the top seeded to be hunted down by William Taylor of Utah. In the 110 Meter Hurdles, the #1 hurdler from Waco, Texas, Jamaal Charles with a time of 13.69 will have a challenge with Darius Reed of Denver whose time of 13.70 is #2 in the nation. Jamaal Charles the nations' leader in the 300 Meter Hurdles is far above the field but Augustine Agyel of Denver and Kaiser Wade of Texas could surprise. In the 4X100 relay the team of Lousiana could challenge the team of Texas. The time will surely break 40.0. In the 4X400, Colorado , Texas, Louisana and Oklahoma , will be a barn burner with a team under 3:10. In the 4X800 relay, Utah, Texas and Oklahoma with their seed times could be very close at the finish. In the Triple Jump, Elliot O'Hare of Austin, Texas, the 4A Champion will be challenged by Texan LaGerald Betters of Waco. In the Long Jump, Frankie Gatson of Shreveport, Lousiana, the nations' leader will be going after the meet record of 25'10". In the High Jump with 6 jumpers over 6'10 it will be a great competition with Trevor Heiner of Utah and Luke Barr of Texas with 7'0". The Shot Put with four throwers bunched between 60'8" and 59'10" should be intense competition with Trey Gordon and Jason Guillory of Texas, Jason Lewis of Arizona and Phil Harrison of New Mexico. Brad Sellers of Texas the 5A State Champion leads all throwers with a toss of 197'3". The Javelin competition brings in three nationally ranked throwers in Preston Chatham of Louisiana-212'4", Anthony Fairbanks of Albuquerque-212'4" and Alex Wolfe of Oregon-213'5". Our leader in the Pole Vault is State Champion of Arizona Dutch Perryman with a height of 16'1".

 

ELITE EVENTS

 

In the 100 Meter Dash, the field of 8 sprinters is separated by .15 hundredth of a second. With J-Mee Samuels -10.46 and Jerek Hewitt -10.40 of the South they will be challenged by Jeremy Dodson of Denver with a time of 10.41 who has overcome injuries to become a force to be reckoned with. The 200 Meter Dash, the record of 20.49 could be challenged by J-Mee Samuels of North Carolina, the nations' leader in the 200 Meter Dash with a time of 20.61 with Jeremy Dodson of Washington High School whose time of 20.70 is #2 in the nation.

 

Girls

LOOK OUT FOR THE NEW MEXICO LOCALS

 

In the first year of 1500 Meter Race Walk, there will be two performers in the two sister competition of Caroline and Susan Muraida from Albuquerque.

Tressie Richardson of Cibola will lead New Mexico sprinters in the 100 Meter Dash time of 11.92 and 200 Meter Dash of 24.62.

Katie Coronado with a throw of 144'9" and Diedra Brown with 142'0" will have the challenge of their life with Rachel Yurkovich of Oregon, the national record holder.

Briana Paxton of La Cueva has a fine double with 130'9" in the Discus and the Shot Put with a toss of 42'1".

Deanna Young of Highland High School the 5A State champion with a leap of 37'1" in the Triple Jump.

Emig Aeriel of Academy the leader of the pack for New Mexico in the 1500 with a time of 4:51.0 and 3200 Meter Run of 11:13.0.

Lindsay Harper , the sister of Cody Harper, the 4A State Champion with 2:17 in the 800 Meters.

In the 2000 Meter Steeplechase, Hilary Mclendon of Idaho and Adaia Keating of Arizona, are capable of setting a new record. In the 100 Meter Dash, the pair of Oklahoma sprinters, St. Ann Eureka -11.60 and Shekila Wilkinson -11.70 are the ones to beat. Maloy Dominique of Nevada with a time of 24.10 will be challenged by Whitney Harris of Texas and DeAngelis Moseley of Kansas. In the 400 Meter Dash, there is a great match up of Bianca Knight of Ridgeland, Mississippi with a time of 53.91 and Katie Baker of Houston with 53.70. The 800 Meters with two Texans in Asia Diaz and Jasmine Dalton with time of 2:12 should be a great match up. In the 1500 Meters, there will be a great race with Frances Hearn of Texas at 4:44.0 and Kari Hardt of Arizona with a time of 4:48.0. Kari Hardt of Arizona will lead the pack with a double in the 3200 Meters at 10:41.79. Kira Robinson of Mullen HS, #1 in the USA with a time of 13.61 will be challenged by Shalina Clark of Evanson, Illinois, at 13.90 and Danielle Gilchrist of Oklahoma at 13.60. Shalina Clark of Illinois, the #1 300 Meter Hurdler in the USA at 41.10 will break her own record and could challenge the National Record of 39.98. Kayla Sanchez of Nevada-42.61, Lauren Stewart of Tennessee will bring in times to help push her to the record. Colorado if they put their best together they are capable of being under 44.0. There are 4 teams capable of going under 46.0 with Lancaster of Texas the leader and two other Texas teams after them. In the 4X400, again there is the possible of 4 teams under 3:45 with three teams from Texas , one from Nevada and another from Colorado . The real barn burner will be an all star team of, Katie Baker , Shalina Clark and Alexandria Anderson and Bianca Knight . With Texas with their first 4X800 relay in the GSSWT&FC will be challenged by the team of Colorado. In the Pole Vault, with two nationally ranked vaulters of Jessica Trujillo of Texas and Annelise Bertleson of Idaho with vaults of 12'10" should be great competition. Chelsea Taylor of Montebello High School in Denver, Colorado, and nationally ranked with a jump 6'0" leads all jumpers in this competition. In the Javelin, Rachel Yurkovich of Oregon with the National Record of 176'5", will be out to break that record in the mile high altitude of New Mexico. The Discus will have 5 throwers over 150'0" with GSWT&FC defending champion and meet record holder from Texas-D'Andra Carter returning. She will be challenged by Christina Mueller of Texas with a throw of 160'0''. Lauren Stewart of Tennessee returns in the Triple Jump with a nationally ranked jump of 42'6". The Shot Put features Megan Horton from Oregon with the #1 mark of 52'7" who will threatened the record held by Michelle Carter the National Record holder in the Shot Put.

ELITE EVENTS

The 100 Meter Dash , should be a barn burner with 5 of the competitors ranked in the top ten in the USA with #1 Sarah Matthews of Longmont, Colorado, with the top mark of 11.56. Hot on her will be Freshman Victoria Jordan of Ft. Worth-11.57, Sandy Wooten of Mineral Wells, Texas at 11.63, Elizabeth Adeoti of Alief, Texas at 11.67, Ashley Cruder of Denver, Colorado at 11.69, Brittany Blaylock of Arlington, Texas with 11.72, and Brittany Culver of Keller, Texas at 11.79. In the 200 Meter Dash , with the #1 Alexandria Anderson of Morgan Park High School in Chicago, Illinois, with a time of 23.32, the record of 23.26 will be challenged. The rest of the field is separated by is separated by .13 hundredth of a second. With Bianca Knight of Mississippi and Victoria Jordan of Texas at 23.84, Porscha Lucas of Plano, Texas, at 23.92, Shalina Clark of Illinois and Elizabeth Adeoti Texas at 23.93, Brittany Blaylock Houston Arlington at 23.97 and Joneisha Boleware of Lancaster, Texas, with 24.15.
